USA owners - Time to manually adjust for DST

Where applicable…

Same thing for us in the UK a short while ago. It’s crazy that the time can be set automatically but DST on or off is a manual process.

Wait, so you have to toggle DST but it doesn’t automatically adjust? That’s silly.

Then it’s not automatic. Setting a toggle to enable/disable DST should mean that we don’t have to add/remove it every time DST changes. It should actually be automatic in that case based on the observation of DST to adjust time accordingly.

It is ridiculous!

It is insane that this is necessary.

It’s insane that we’re still observing DST. It should have gone away when “door-to-door” milk delivery did.

It should always be DST.

I can’t fathom people who want the sun to come up at 4am. DST 4 lyfe!

@Jalen
Higher latitudes have a larger fluctuation.

No, buddy, I mean latitudes. Please stop trying to be smart, it isn’t working for you.

@Mica
Bless your heart. Yes, I got in a hurry and got confused.

Google is still free.

@Jalen
That is insane in China. I think it was an NPR podcast that discussed having one time globally by using UTC. Another idea is to get rid of the Gregorian calendar too. We still use imperial measurements but I’m sure we’ll sort out this time/calendar issue real soon! (rolls eyes)

In the north, there is so much variability in day length that DST would gain you nothing in the winter (sun goes down at 5:30 instead of 4:30, big whoop… an extra hour of cold and rain to be outside) and sucks in the summer (sunset at 10:45pm, good luck putting kids to bed).

@Tan
They tried that, but it was not popular. > While 79 percent of Americans approved of the change in December 1973, approval had dropped to 42 percent three months later The US Tried Permanent Daylight Saving Time in the ‘70s. People Hated It
