Is there a way to get this POS to automatically lock the doors after exiting?

It doesn’t lock automatically and it doesn’t give me a beep when manually locking the car, and too often do I forget to manually lock the doors.

No walk away auto-lock if that’s what you’re referring to. For a visual/audio confirmation, there is a setting to fold the mirrors when locking

I’ve found it somewhat rare to have auto lock on walk away in anything but a Tesla.

Given how sensitive the Taycan seems to be to when the key is physically in the car though this seems like a trivial thing to add though.

@Aris
It’s definitely not a technology capability thing. Most likely a cost or country regulation requirement.

My 2017 honda civic locks automatically and makes a beep when it detect the key fob leaving. Same thing on my 2021 and 2025 mazda cx-5.

But my 2021 audi rs5 does not.

@ROZZY
I feel like there’s almost certainly some weird German privacy or security rule around it. Or just Porsche being super cautious.

My BMW does it, my Audi does not. Maybe it’s a VWAG issue?

@Hayden
My wife’s Volvo doesn’t either, which is what made me think it was Euro-based. It’s probably just Porsche being very cautious on Software (though the most recent app version seems much more reliable).

Software… porsche spent a lot of R&D on car engineering.

the software is another story.

@Aris
Rivian has it too

@Aris
BMW has them on some models but yeah Porsche tends to lag behind on convenience features like that. It seems like the sensors / data are already there so shouldn’t be too hard for Porsche to implement if they wanted to

@Vann
Like many things it may also be some weird ass German safety requirement.

My Mach-e has auto lock on walk away

Also Ford Mach E…

I had it configured for the iPhone to be the car key and it was glorious. A year into ownership it kicked me out and never worked again, need to take the car to service. I used to be able to drive off only with my iPhone. Now I cannot use it to start the car, but when i get close to the car with the iPhone it unlocks it. And when I walk away, it locks it. It is flawless for locking and unlocking.

@Cameron
Interesting. I’m fine with my key in my pocket, but I do wish it would lock when I walked away.

My wife’s Volvo EV doesn’t do it either, which is why I hazarded a guess it was European software related but if BMW does it…

Then again BMW is a little more software forward than Porsche.

@Aris
It does it with the key in my pocket as well. I also have a Mercedes with the same feature but it does not work at all. It is horrible…
