I’ve been having trouble with the MyBMW app since yesterday morning. It hasn’t updated my vehicle’s status since 8 AM, and it’s not showing my preferred charging stations. Also, I can’t use it to lock/unlock my car or adjust the fan settings. Is anyone else experiencing the same issues?
Yes, it seems to be related to the hurricane affecting their services. They’ve posted a notice on their official website.

They should have notified us by email or some other way that they were having service disruptions.
@Madden
I agree. However, they’re primarily a car manufacturer, not a tech company, so their IT services might not be as proactive about communication. It’s surprising they even posted a message on their main portal.

Could you share the link? I can’t seem to find that information.
@Myles
I’m having the same issue here in Virginia.

Thanks for the explanation. That clears things up.
@Blake
Actually, it doesn’t make sense. They shouldn’t rely on a single server location in this day and age.

Exactly. Having redundancy is crucial.

Actually, the outage is only affecting North America. They’re a German company, so their main servers are in Germany. The regional services are managed by local servers.
@Vesper
One server for the entire US is not practical. They should have servers on both the east and west coasts, and if one region goes down, others should be able to handle the load temporarily.
The service disruptions are due to Hurricane Helene impacting BMW’s servers. It could be a regional issue.
I thought my phone was malfunctioning, but it seems to be a broader issue.
I’m relieved to see it’s not just me. My app stopped updating on Wednesday, and even logging out and back in hasn’t fixed it. Frustrating, but it’s good to know it’s a system-wide problem.
Mine has been frozen since last Saturday. A friend with a 2 series is having the same problem.
The app has been down all day for me today.
My app has been stuck on data from three days ago.
It’s been down since yesterday for me as well. I tried resetting the app and rebooting my phone several times with no luck. When I called Connected Drive, there was a long wait, and others have mentioned it’s a problem on their end, so it seems like we just have to wait it out.
I wish I had seen this thread earlier before I deleted my profile. Now I can’t access my profile or the app at all. Hope they fix it soon.
