I was planning a road trip and wasn’t sure if MagicDock superchargers would work for my Niro EV since Kia doesn’t support regular superchargers yet. I used this as an excuse to go to Bucees, and I can confirm that they work well. The charging speeds seemed as expected, I plugged in at 40% since I wasn’t sure if I would need to find another charger.
MagicDock chargers are basically regular CCS chargers.

I’ve only used one once, but I don’t remember it being more expensive than typical chargers.

Where I am, they’re 3c cheaper per kWh than Electrify America.
I tried one of these once. It was the most expensive charge I’ve had, and I won’t use it again.

I know right? It feels like everything you do just ends up benefiting the billionaires.

Over here in the UK, Tesla’s charging is cheaper, even at peak times. It’s about 40-60p/kWh compared to 75-90p/kWh for other stations.
@Reagan
Same here in the US. Tesla charges more for non-Tesla cars, but in my area, it’s still a bit cheaper than Electrify America.

What are these prices compared to? Level 3 fast charging usually costs 2-3 times more than level 2 charging.

It’s crazy that non-Tesla users get charged more.

Why do you think that’s crazy? Tesla built their Supercharger network mainly to sell Tesla cars, not to make money from charging. They charge non-Tesla cars at ‘market price’ because they opened the network to make a profit.
@Mika
But CCS doesn’t charge Teslas extra for using their network.

CCS isn’t a company. Tesla gives Tesla owners a discount because their network was built as a sales tool, not just for charging. When I bought my VW ID4, I got 3 years of free charging with Electrify America, but Tesla includes discounted Supercharging for their cars.
@Mika
NACS isn’t a company. Tesla doesn’t own it.
To clarify, Tesla owns their Superchargers. The previous post was asking why Tesla charges non-Tesla users more than Tesla owners. It’s about the network’s original purpose: to sell Tesla cars, not just to charge vehicles.

I agree. I went on a road trip, and the last stop had 4 Tesla chargers and one ChargeFox charger. The Tesla charger was $0.92/kWh, while the ChargeFox one was $0.65/kWh, and it was used on the way there and back.
That’s cool. Is there a way to check which charging stations have MagicDocks or if they’re available?
@Ev
Nice! Will this work with a 2019 Niro EV?

PlugShare also shows MagicDocks if you filter for CCS chargers.
