Hey there, I have been thinking about changing my old gas car to a hybrid for some time. I’ve figured out that the simplest way to do it is by replacing the alternator with a BISG (Belt Integrated Starter Generator). Does anyone know where I could get one of those?
I have a hybrid conversion kit built by Xlfleet for sale. This kit came out of a 2020 f150 but can easily be adapted to any other vehicle. It is currently wired to run from the canbus of the vehicle. The electric motor sits in between the transmission and the differential and was designed to raise fuel efficiency. The kit does not include the cooling lines or the driveshafts. I was unable to find any specifications on the electric motor as the company Xlfleet is no longer in business. Message me if interested.
The kit includes:
286 Volt Li-Ion battery
Sevcon Gen 5 size 9 motor controller
ElCon 3.3kW HK-J-H440-10 CAN bus onboard charger for 110-440V systems
Delare cooling kit
The electric motor and mounting bracket for the f150 are unsure of the specifications
Hey…You can check Amazon they offer various automotive parts and kits, including hybrid conversion kits.
To find a Belt Integrated Starter Generator (BISG) for converting your old gas car to a hybrid, check with major auto parts suppliers like Bosch, Continental, and Denso, explore salvage yards for hybrid vehicle parts, and search online marketplaces like eBay and Amazon. Additionally, join automotive forums for leads, consult with local mechanics or retrofit specialists, and consider custom conversion kits from companies specializing in hybrid conversions. Always ensure the conversion complies with safety and legal regulations.
Hey Jason, Look for companies that specialize in electric vehicle (EV) conversions. Some of these companies may offer hybrid conversion kits or services.
