What’s the 3-month review of owning a Fisker Ocean?
Hello,
I’d like to share my honest review of the Fisker Ocean after three months of ownership.
A bit of background: I’m a car enthusiast and have been following Fisker since 2012. I’ve leased various cars and was excited about the Ocean’s release.
The Good:
- Build Quality & Paint: Solid and well-done.
- Value: Good features and range for the money.
- Design: Attractive, though beauty is subjective.
- Vehicle Engineering: Robust, with impressive crash test results compared to the Tesla Model Y.
- Interior: Comfortable, with a unique steering wheel and a nice headliner.
- Power & Brakes: Excellent acceleration and braking.
- User Interface: Functional, though not the best out there.
- Handling: Good for daily driving, though not as precise as some other models.
- Comfort: Much better than Tesla Model 3 and Y.
- Seats: Very comfortable.
- Sound System: High-quality, comparable to luxury car upgrades.
- Headlights: Effective.
- Solar Roof: Tinted with no noticeable sun patterns.
- Taco Tray: Handy for meetings.
- Warranty: Strong, with a 6-year and 10-year battery warranty.
- Insurance Costs: Lower due to replaceable panels.
- ADAS Hardware: Includes advanced features like imaging radars and exterior cameras.
The Bad:
- Customer Experience: Initial delivery process was poor but is improving.
- Key Issues: Initial key problems, now mostly resolved with software updates.
- Software Issues: Occasional screen glitches and error messages; fixed with resets.
- 12V Battery: Had issues due to shipping and software, but resolved.
- Missing Features: Some features like hill hold and adaptive cruise control are still pending.
What’s Next:
- Fisker is working on improving the customer experience and moving to a dealership model.
- They are making quick updates and deploying redesigned parts.
- Version 2 of the vehicle software is expected in Q1 2024, which should address many current issues.
Recommendation:
I recommend the Ocean and am happy with my purchase. If you’re cautious, wait for the V2 software release to see how the issues are addressed. If you decide to reserve one, consider using my code 8YLKR7 for a free T-shirt. Thanks.
