Thoughts on design changes for the new Tesla Model Y Juniper?

I think the renders look great. Hoping the design is distinct from the Model 3. The redesign of the Model 3 is nice, but the Model Y should have its own SUV style.

The interior shot shows the stalks are missing, similar to the new Model 3, which is disappointing.

No stalk means I won’t buy it. They should at least make it optional.

You can find aftermarket stalks that fit and function just like the original.

True. The older Y looks kind of like a surprised fish. It doesn’t transition well from the old Model 3’s design.

But these renders, especially the rear, remind me of the BYD Seal.

It transitions just fine and resembles the old Model 3 quite a bit.

It’s definitely better looking than the previous one, but there are nicer designs out there that don’t come with the issues of owning a Tesla.

The issues are as heavy as you make them. Sure, Elon has his faults, but Tesla has skilled engineers making solid cars. Most Tesla drivers, including myself, don’t think about Elon nearly as much as some critics here.

@Darcy

as heavy

Buying a Tesla means supporting Trump and his policies in the US, which affects everyone else too. No way around that.

Lol, people are losing it.

Kevin Mack from the Voter Project said, “We are registering tens of thousands of voters, maximizing early voting…”. They’re trying to increase youth turnout in Pennsylvania by a lot.

It’s a big deal because Musk endorsed Trump. No one cares about all the other money flowing from the other side; we don’t even need to discuss the foreign president in a swing state.

@Oakley

foreign president in a swing state.

Did Trump bring his boss to Pennsylvania? I didn’t even know Putin visited.

@Darcy
Some might ignore the fact that he’s using illegal tactics to sway an election through vote buying and creating fake websites. I just want a car, not a political statement. Everyone has their own take on this, but at least I haven’t paid for it.

EDIT: I only mentioned ‘baggage’, even the biggest fan has to agree that buying a Tesla is complicated by Musk jumping on Trump’s stage and using illegal methods to support him.

@Darcy
They should get him out of the company soon.

@Darcy
If the good people he works with weren’t just letting him take their $56B and using it for voter manipulation and backing a dangerous dictator, your argument might stand.

@Darcy
The vice presidential candidate just called him a fool on stage, so I’d say his reputation isn’t just suffering here.

The new model will be almost the same as the Model 3 and will share parts to keep production costs down.

Huh. The front looks like a mix between a Sonata and a Kona.

There will likely be many shared parts between these models, especially in the interior, to speed up production. I expect a similar interior look, but the exterior might change. Since the Model Y is considered an SUV, it has to follow different safety rules, which could lead to a unique design.
