Should I join the EV6 club or steer clear?

It’s not as widespread as some posts make it seem, but the concerns are real. Just make sure all recalls are done. If you’re worried, get an AGM battery for peace of mind. It’s a great car.

Yes, and remember, people usually post about issues more than praise. I love my GT Line, but yeah, wish I had the AWD. Just my heavy foot that gets me in trouble now and then!

I’m really enjoying mine. It’s true, people don’t usually post that their battery is working perfectly fine, only the opposite.

I would be concerned about the 12V battery and overheating while charging, but most of that is fixed with recalls. My tires are taking a hit from all the fun drives though!

That 12V battery issue is pretty common among EVs.

Actually, it’s common with any cheap OEM battery.

Good point.

Never had an issue with the Kona’s 12V battery though.

@Scout
Well, every 12V battery eventually dies. Some just last longer. Lots of them barely make it past 3 years.

Tesla tackled it by moving to a 16V lithium battery instead of the usual lead acid.

Test drive the GT model, hit the green button, and you’ll rethink everything you thought you knew about Kia.

Yes! I actually traveled across state lines to buy one after trying that button. Didn’t even need it, but I still look forward to every drive nine months in.

@Sia
I’ve got 51K miles on mine and still get a kick out of every ride.

Agreed, which is why I swapped my EV6 Plus RWD for a GT Performance after two years. Smiling every drive.

I did love it, but I couldn’t handle the bucket seats. And that button is a lot of temptation for me.

@Kim
I tried out the Tesla 3 (the small one?), the EV6, the Niro, and the IONIQ 5 & 6. The Tesla felt too tight for me, and the EV6 seats were a bit much. But the GT-Line… that was it.

Had to get my 12V battery checked recently, but it’s still my favorite car ever. It’s actually quieter than my old BMW 5 series, which is impressive.

How long did it take to get it back?

@EvanSparks
They replaced the 12V in two days. But three days later, I got an alert and it’s back in the shop.

Four days into owning a used GT-Line. Looked into all the battery concerns but decided to take the leap. Just couldn’t pass up the deal, and I’m loving it so far.

Use the 12 volt as little as possible.

Yep, I just park with it on instead of accessory mode. Makes a difference.
