Picking up my new EV6 Tomorrow

Tomorrow morning, I’m driving about 6.5 hours to trade in my '23 GTI and pick up a new Yacht Blue with Suede package GT-Line. Is there anything I should double-check before driving away? I’ve already sorted out Kia access and Electrify America credits, but what must-have accessories do I need?

I’ve already ordered

  • All weather mats and trunk liner from bestevmod
  • Upper and lower console trays
  • 12v jump pack
  • OBD reader for ABRP
  • Electrician is coming out end of October to set up charging and generator input for V2L

I can’t wait to join the community!

Make sure to check the tire pressure! I’ve leased two EV6s this year, and they both had 50 psi.

Got it! Thanks for the tip.

Mine was also set at 50 when I got it. Just a heads up.

This! I was so confused when I saw it was at 48, so I dropped it to 36.

They set it high for shipping to avoid flat spots from sitting still. Dealerships often forget to release the extra air.

My friend’s EV6 had several AC issues, so it’s worth checking that before you take it home.

Thanks, I’ll check it out.

That’s the only case I’ve heard about. You shouldn’t worry about it.

@Miller
Honestly, I’ve seen a few reports of issues while browsing this forum, so it doesn’t hurt to be cautious.

What should you check? Just turn on the AC. It’s a new car. You likely won’t find anything wrong. Even lemons take time to show issues.

I have the same car—a '24 Yacht Blue GT Line AWD with faux suede interior. It’s been flawless after 3600 miles. I had the front end, mirrors, and A pillars protected with PPF and added a rear mat and cargo cover from Amazon. Still looking for all weather mats. I’m considering the 3D Mats USA version. I’ve used Husky, WeatherTech, and Tux Mats in the past, and Tux Mats were my favorite. Just don’t want to cover the ambient lighting on the floor.

The V2L output isn’t very high, around 2kw in the USA and 3.5kw on 240v. You should plan on running a few essential items, not a whole house.

Yeah, it’ll be for the fridge, router, and lights.

Are the seats real suede? I dislike plastic seats. You can call it vegan leather and add a catchy term, but it’s still just plastic, and I really hate that.

It’s vegan suede, so yes, it’s plastic.

If you don’t already have a dash cam, I recommend the FitCamX for a stealthy look. If you’re reusing an older dash cam, check out this for an easy plug-and-play setup that connects to the rearview mirror without a long cable running to the cigarette lighter. If you’re worried about scratching the piano black surfaces, something like this might be a good idea.

@Ashwin
I was planning to get front and rear cameras in a couple of months!

I’d suggest waiting for the 2025 version for the updated Tesla port, but that’s only if it matters to you. I have a '22, so I’m looking forward to the new port in a few years.

I believe all new Kia EVs will get a free adapter if you purchase after September 5th. In my area, there are equal Electrify America and Tesla chargers.
