Low tyre pressure warning even when pressure looks fine? Anyone know why?

I’m getting a low tyre pressure warning, but when I check the pressure, it’s fine and matches the other tyres. The car was in a shop for repairs after an accident, which took nearly two months to fix. When I got it back, the two tyres on the passenger side were lower than those on the driver’s side (around 31 versus 36), but no warning showed up, so I ignored it.

Fast-forward a month, and on the first cold day, the pressure dropped to 28 and 29, which triggered the warning. I filled them up at a gas station, and the pressure was updated, but the rear passenger tyre still shows the low tyre pressure warning. Do you have any thoughts on why this happens? What should I do about it?

I had this happen too. The dealer told me to inflate it past 36 and leave it there. :thinking:

Looks like your left rear tire is still low. I’ll copy my comment from another post about this issue.

The first tire that drops below the minimum pressure will light up. That tire will keep the warning on until all the tires are at the right pressure to clear the alert. Even if you fix that tire and the others are still low, the alert will stay on that tire.

In my 2022 SEL, the right pressure is 38 psi for both the front and rear tires.

@Zen
I have the same car, and it’s 36 psi for me.

Must be AWD, right?

Yes.

@Zen
I had three tires light up at once, even though they were all the same pressure (33 psi after the cold snap).

So I think your explanation might not be right.

It seems the display rounds the numbers, but the sensors are more precise.

Try bringing all tires up to 36 psi, drive around for a few minutes, and it should reset.

I have a different car, but this happened to me. Once I filled the tires up to the recommended pressure, the warning went away. After that, I could lower the pressure back down (but not below the warning level), and it didn’t come back. You could try it.

It might be worth checking the TPMS sensors. They may need reprogramming.

Yeah, these cars are weird. You have to overinflate the tire to reset the light, then you can let the air out again.

The tire pressure specs surprised me too. I’m used to 33 psi, but the door panel said something like 38/39. Once it got colder, I had to pump them up.

Every 10-degree drop causes a few psi to drop as well.

If you haven’t checked yet, confirm the pressure settings on the door panel. Inflate to that or a little above that number, then drive around. The alert should go away.

How do you get the tire pressure to show up on the dash screen? It’s the one thing I haven’t figured out. I’ve seen it pop up when I had a flat, but I know there’s a way to check it even when it’s fine.

@Davis
It’s in the second sub-view in the compass view.

Hopefully, it’s not the case, but it might be a slow leak. I had the same issue, and when it didn’t reset after I added air, I knew something was wrong. I took it to a tire shop, and they patched it for $25. After that, the light didn’t come back on.

I had the exact same problem.

This happened to me too. The front right tire showed 34 psi, but the light was on, while the rear left showed 32 psi and didn’t have a light. I inflated all of them to 36 psi as it says on the door panel, and the problem was solved.
