I just bought a 2023 Niro EV Wind and didn’t realize until it got dark that the headlights were halogen. I assumed all the lights would be LEDs—who put halogen bulbs in an EV? Kia does. I’ve been searching online for OEM replacements but can’t find any. I called the dealership but haven’t heard back. Has anyone replaced them on a 2023?
Update: I installed the LEDs mentioned in the comments:
LEDs look great, no flickering.
The easiest way to remove the wheel liner is to turn the wheels in one direction, remove all accessible clips, and then turn the wheels the other way to get the remaining clips. Takes less than 5 minutes per liner.
Accessing the back of the headlight to change the bulb is very easy.
No car alarms after a diagnostic test, but I did get a phone notification about a headlight malfunction.
This definitely disappoints me as well. Halogen lights are not appropriate for an electric car. Aside than that, KIA’s handling of the Wind trim level was excellent.
Disappointed with halogen headlights on a 2023 Niro EV? You’re not alone. Upgrading to LED is possible. Aftermarket LED bulbs are available, but OEM options are limited. Installation seems doable but might trigger a headlight malfunction warning.
Looking for feedback from others who’ve made the switch.
