Kia launching smaller, more affordable EV2 in 2026, will it be a hit?

The Kia EV5 Is Headed To Canada, But It Skips The U.S.

I’ll clarify—it doesn’t use the 800V e-GMP so the ultra-fast charging times are gone. That was really the main draw for Kia to me so disappointed to see this doesn’t have it.

@Perry
Heck, with Zeekr’s Golden Brick battery now in production, even e-GMP can’t really be called ‘ultra-fast’ any more. That monster can do 10-80% in 10 minutes, assuming the charger can provide the 460kW peak power it’s capable of taking.

@Dru
Always had the question why don’t polestar/volvo have the same battery tech since they live in the same umbrella

I do hope they make something sized in between the EV6 and EV9 at some point as well.

Maybe EV4?

No, the EV4 is a sedan. I’m thinking more of a small SUV/large crossover.

Something Equinox EV sized but with Kia’s 800V charging basically.

@Perry
That’s EV5 no? I don’t think the USA is getting it, Canada is though.

Something Model 3 / MG4 sized with a decent boot will go well if the price is reasonable.

Problem with small EV is small battery, so small range. Renault 5 EV just won Car of the Year Europe. £2300 starting price, slow charging, 150 miles best conditions range, so great as second car for city drivers. Will be interesting to see how many cars sold.

@Emerson
£2300? Bargain .:wink:

@Emerson
Will probably sell very well in Norway. The Soul EV is extremely popular here, along with other small EVs.
