Kia launching smaller, more affordable EV2 in 2026, will it be a hit?

Kia has announced they will be launching a more affordable and smaller EV2 in January 2026. This could be a great move for those looking for a smaller electric vehicle. What do you think? Will it be popular in the market?

Please

Renault/Alpine and VW Group are bringing small hatchbacks

Here ya go (sorry, German :wink:) A battery-electric variant has been available since the beginning of 2020 under the name e-208 . The same technology is used as in the Opel Corsa-e.

(Huh. 4+ years already, wow…)

@Dallas
Danke .

You’ve never heard of a Corsa? Or just not the electric version?

@Casey
I’ve heard of a Corsa. It was sold in Australia as the Holden Barina in the 1990s and 2000s.

Isn’t the red one already a hatchback kinda

@Fox
No.

I’ve started seeing the EV3 around more and more lately and it looks surprisingly nice for its segment. It’d be nice if the EV2 was up to the same standard.

I know this is wishful thinking but I honestly think the EV2 has a good chance at being sold in the US market. The Soul still does better than their sedans, MPV, and even the Niro. If they make it as cool as the Soul when it first launched, it might just work.

@Galen
I thought Kia would bring EV5 to the USA with their domestic battery supply, but it seems their plans have changed. We haven’t heard much about the EV3 production in the Americas either.

I just want a small pickup. RIP Canoo.

Have you checked out r/telotrucks? Seems promising so far.

I do hope they make something sized in between the EV6 and EV9 at some point as well.

They already have EV5 but that’s more like a mid-size SUV :blue_car:

I had no idea about the EV5, looks like a good size. But am I reading that it doesn’t have 800V charging? That’s very disappointing. That’s the main reason I like Kia EVs.
