Anyone got insights or thoughts on this? Trying to compare Kia EV6 to Ioniq 5, especially regarding efficiency at 120km/h. Any data or personal experiences would be appreciated.
What we really need to know is whether the EV6’s more aerodynamic look actually means better efficiency at 120km/h compared to the Ioniq 5.

I saw a 1000 km Autobahn test done by a German YouTube channel called Nextmove recently. They haven’t posted the full results yet, but I’m hoping we’ll see some data on consumption soon.
@Han
Any idea if the video has been released yet?

I really hate those headrests that push your head forward. The rest of the seat looks great, but the headrest is a deal breaker for me.

Totally agree. Toyota has the same problem. I can never get comfortable in them for long drives because my posture is too ‘good’ for their seats.
That War Of The Worlds reference in the review got me laughing so hard
It’s funny how most people are busy arguing over VW and Tesla when Hyundai and Kia have quietly started building the best affordable EVs for the masses. The only thing that remains is for them to sort out the supply chain issues so they can ramp up production. If they manage that, I wouldn’t be surprised if Hyundai/Kia are one of the top 3 global car makers in 10 years.
@Han
Completely agree. As someone who’s into EVs but not luxury cars, Hyundai and Kia are much more appealing to me than Tesla, VW, or Audi. I see them leading the market in the future.

Aren’t Kia and Hyundai’s base models more expensive than Tesla’s Model 3 though?
@Briley
I used to think that too, but in the UK at least, the EV6 is priced about the same as a Tesla Model 3. It might depend on where you are though. They’ve done a great job with it, but the real issue is that they won’t be able to make enough to meet demand.
@Briley
In the US, the Hyundai Ioniq starts at about $34k now and still qualifies for the federal tax credit (unlike Tesla). It’s a solid option.

Fair point. I thought we were talking about the EV6, which starts around $45k. I can see why you’d prefer the Ioniq if you don’t need the extra range. Not everyone needs the longest range possible.
@Briley
Yeah, I was speaking more generally about Kia and Hyundai. I’m more of an economy car guy, so I’m excited to see what their cheaper models will look like in a few years. Hopefully, we’ll see some no-frills EVs with good range and fast charging eventually.
I watched the whole review, but honestly, they stretched 2 minutes of useful info into a 14-minute video. Spoiler: It’s just alright.

Yeah, but you gotta admit, it’s rare for him to outright recommend a car like that. Usually, he’s a lot more cautious.

I think Carwow does a good job overall. They’re much snappier than those 30-minute ‘reviews’ that feel more like showroom tours. But I did notice they didn’t compare the EV6 to the Ioniq 5 much beyond saying the ride was firmer, which is useful info. Maybe they haven’t reviewed the Ioniq 5 in detail yet?
@Cody
Actually, they’ve reviewed both and ranked them already. The EV6 came in 4th, just ahead of the Ioniq 5 in 5th. Tesla, Porsche Taycan, and Audi e-Tron GT took the top spots in their EV rankings. Personally, I’m excited for the performance versions of both next year — the Ioniq 5 N and EV6 GT should be fun to watch.

Can anything ever really please you? Just curious.
