Issues with Short Cords at Tesla Superchargers … Can Anyone Else Relate?

Does anyone else struggle with reaching the charger due to the short cords when sharing with other EVs?

Are you ending up blocking more chargers behind you than if you parked in the middle but blocked the far right one?

I was only blocking one other charger and there were 10 stalls, just me and a Tesla 3 around.

Heads up, you might be banned from supercharging for parking like this. Maybe try pulling forward next time?

I park at a slightly less extreme angle and it reaches just fine, blocking only two spots and not causing any hassle for others.

I only blocked one other charger. There were 10 stalls and only one other Tesla. Plenty of space left.

At some stations, the chargers on the ends are set perpendicular to the rest. You can use one of these end ones without blocking any other chargers.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll look for those next time.

Yeah, I’ve had the same issue. It was the only way I could make it work without blocking cars to my rear, just two spots. It’s a bit crazy.

You can just park normally with the charger to the left of the car. If the nose of your car can clear the curb by a couple of inches, the short cable will reach fine.

The curb was too high for my car’s front lip (stock). This happened in Baton Rouge. I tried to get as close as possible and still couldn’t reach the port. I tried using an end stall, but for some reason, it didn’t show as compatible.

You are parked the wrong way and are blocking too many chargers. Next time, try pulling straight in with your car’s nose between the chargers.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll try that next time.

Avoid pull-in parking. Other drivers won’t appreciate it.

Just to let everyone know, this is my first road trip since buying the car and my first time using Tesla chargers.

The newer stations will have longer cords from what I’ve heard. But yeah, for now, you might have to block two spots to use a Tesla station with a Mach E.

@Owen
Yeah, the V4’s have longer cables. They just built one close to where I live in the UK, open to all cars, and you can pay by card.

Make sure you learn how to park correctly for next time.

See my responses below.

Did you get that email from Ford about recalling these adapters? They strongly recommended not using the adapters because they can cause charge port damage.
