Is the Rolls-Royce Spectre really the best electric car experience

Many are curious about whether the Rolls-Royce Spectre lives up to the hype as an electric vehicle. What makes it stand out

If I bought a Rolls Royce and it didn’t give me the ultimate experience, then I would feel ripped off

With that low of HP and range for that price, sounds like a big rip to me

@Phoenix
A RR doesn’t need range, any more than 50 miles and you’re taking the helicopter

Valid point

Then why have they packed it with 108 kWh of battery weight

@Phoenix
577 HP is low? Range is 266. That seems fine

It’s not that it’s low compared to a normal car, but it’s low for a vehicle of that price, and it’s not that much power when you consider how much it weighs (6559 pounds) So when it weighs double what a normal car does, the power to weight ratio isn’t all that high

@Fallon
The RR Phantom makes 563, and that’s out of a V12. I feel like Rolls’ thing really isn’t HP, though it’s not like 500 something is slow

Oh, I’m sure. It’s STILL a fast car. It just depends on what you compare to…for example, the high-end Lucid Airs are making over 1,000 horsepower (and no, they’re not as luxurious as a Rolls Royce, but not much is) But yeah, Rolls Royce makes their cars with adequate power, so more than enough to get around, but they’re not trying to make cars for the drag strip or race track. This one does 4.4 seconds 0-60, which is actually very fast for something that HUGE and heavy

@Fallon
It’s about the same as a F150 Lightning, with specs between the standard and extended range batteries

@Fallon
It does 0-60 in 4.4 seconds. That’s plenty fast

For $400k? I think so. Rivian gen1 quad is 835 HP with over 300 miles of range for under $100k. And since it’s an EV and a high luxury Rolls, it’s going to be heavy, so 577 HP in a much heavier car than an ICE equivalent is pretty low

@Phoenix
Anyone who is shopping for a RR isn’t cross shopping for a Rivian. And they’re not buying this car for drag racing it

@Phoenix
This isn’t the mentality of someone buying a RR

@Phoenix
You don’t need 835 HP. Ever. The RR does 0-60 in 4.4 seconds which is already quite fast. Why would you need more? You’re paying for the luxury on the RR. It has already been noted as the quietest EV out there and is easily the most luxurious. As for the range, the owner of that RR isn’t going to be going on road trips. They’ll fly in a private plane

@Kingsley
Why would you need all of that superfluous luxury either? It’s an insane car. Why not have more power to match

@Phoenix
A RR is never about the most power, speed, or range. It’s all about the materials, quality of the build, sound (or lack thereof), refinement, and comfort. And of course, the brand itself. If you’re buying a RR, you have other cars. Probably multiple for whatever it is that you need. And if you’re able to get a RR, you’re probably never going to drive it far enough for the range to matter

@Kim
OK, but this RR is a 2-door sports sedan and not the 4-door ‘I have a driver and sit in the back seat’ RR

And? Even more reason why this won’t be their only car
