I own a Niro EV and I am currently looking to upgrade. What are your EV6 must-haves?

I bought a 2022 Niro EX in February 2022. I loved the car though it was not an EV6, which was the car I was looking to own. By that time, the prices for the EV6 were insane. Dealers were asking for at least $10k over MSRP. As I had relocated from overseas I needed a car fast and couldn’t shop around or make a long-distance trip to find a dealer with a reasonably priced EV6.

In the present, the cost of a new 2024 EV6 has returned to normal. I am considering some deeply discounted Wind trims that start at $40,000. I will receive about $20k in exchange for my low-mileage Niro.

I want to know how essential is the tech package. It seems like the dealers are offering discounts on cars that have either AWD or the tech package, but not both. If you had to choose, would you take the AWD over the tech package? Looking for any advice on this.

If I had an option to choose I would probably pick the tech package over AWD. Unless you live in an exceptionally snowy or rainy climate I don’t think having the extra grip would be worth it over all the extra cameras.

Before talking anything, I want to confirm that the Niro is a solid car. I had one when my 6 was in the shop. It is more practical from a storage perspective if not as fast or quite as roomy for rear passengers.

I would just keep the Niro if I was in your shoes. With my argument, I would say that there is no point swapping to the EV6 unless you get the AWD for power and the Tech Package for comfort.

HDA2 is amazing if you drive a lot on the highway or are delayed in traffic. But without favour HUD is horrible.

I actually owned an RWD Wind for 2 years here in Colorado. I put all-weather tires on mine. I didn’t have a heat pump and did great in our winters.

For me, the biggest annoyance was that the door handles didn’t pop out. I think you have to go to GT-line for that, but to me, that’s worth it.

Awd the tech package is the way. I was looking at two cars when I bought mine one with the tech package which is about a month old and one without(though with a small markup).

He simply urged me to wait for the tech package since it would be worth it when I tried to persuade him to waive the markup on the nontech bundle today. I adore the abundance of cameras.

Also on a side note get nicer floor mats. I got some fitted ones from tux mats and they are great and easy to clean.

Regards for your comment. I agree with what you have said. Since it is not snowy yet chilly in Maryland, AWD isn’t necessary for driving; instead, the heat pump is the main concern. We also take one or two annual road trips to New England.

I lived in Colorado for two years with an RWD Wind. My car performed admirably during our winters when I installed all-weather tires and skipped the heat pump.

What annoyed me the most, in my opinion, was that the damn door knobs didn’t come out. That requires going to GT-line, I believe, but it’s worth it.

I live in the mountains and the power goes out here a few times a year.

I got the tech package, not realizing how handy it would be to use the car as a house backup battery during outages. It was an unexpected win.

Do you need only the 2024 model? Maybe you can opt for a very lightly used 2023 dealer demo wind AWD w/tech in the 30s. Either that or hold out for a dealer that does a discount for both AWD and tech.

If I had an option to pick one though, I would like tech. The remote park assist is cool but a rarely used gimmick. But the extra cameras are nice.
