I recently got a notification that the car was on step 3 of the production cycle. Since then, I have been checking the app and website daily to see if it has progressed to the next step. Unfortunately, there have been no updates for nearly a month
I am now wondering what is the general time frame for the whole process. Is it a possibility that the production process has somehow stalled?
These worries made me contact the dealer but they didnât provide any information.
Mine was almost two years ago but it was in the same first step for about a month and then the rest of the steps took around 3-4 days.
My thought is that they had given it a VIN, allocated inventory, or whatever the first step puts it âin productionâ well before it got to the line.
Just keep waiting it will be ready sooner than you think.
In my vast experience with BMW cars, if you enter the VIN into the myBMW app you get the same update as via the BMW My Garage website. Normally, once production begins it only takes a day or two for the car to be completed before it is loaded into a train.
You would just call the BMW Genius phone number because they can give you more precise information such as built week, transport timeline, carrier assignment, and more.
I think it is possible that you are mistaking production begins within the production queue. They are different things.
I cannot argue with you because you are one hundred percent correct. After all, step 3 is called Production Begins. The description says âToday is the day your BMW has entered the production queueâ.
But my worry is that it has been in this stage for about a month.
The phone app is inaccurate without a doubt. I would just advice you to use the BMW USA website to track your build progress.
When I was tracking my car back last year, I compared the phone app and website and for some reason, the phone app was always 1-2 weeks behind in updating.
I beg to differ with you because my production completed in a week first step to finish. The longest wait which troubled me so much was at the Bremerhaven port waiting for a ship.
Call the BMW genius because the guys are good with providing accurate progress details.
Iâ have called the BMW Genius several times and all they can say was that they had a completion date. They were not able to give me any other information about the progress.
I am actually going to email someone in the factory in Dingolfing, maybe they can shed some light on this frustratingly slow process.
I think you should call them again because some people were not helpful but most were very helpful and nice.
Your BMW Sitting in pre-production for that long is not too abnormal, it was also my longest step. They should be able to give you the build week that it is slotted for.
Mine was actually the same at the start but it got out of sync once my ride was aboard the ship on the way to the US. I hope you will be luckier than me.
I am wondering if you called your BMW Genius and got the name of your ship. It can be possible your car is already on the way and tracking it as it progresses across the ocean is fun. There are good websites to follow it.
