EV6 Recall... What Does This Mean for Owners?

@Hollis
This is a new update that changes the thermal parameters of the ICCU firmware.

I just checked my VIN and no recall for me :frowning:

It hasn’t been added to the KIA Connect or system as of today. Letters to owners will begin December 13th. Dealers have the update. Call them and give them your VIN if you want to make an appointment.

Does 2024 bought Oct 31 have recall?

Not sure. You’ll have to check the recall site and enter your VIN. Basically, said the recall is for all 2020-2024 models.

I joined this forum because I really wanted to buy an EV6. Since joining, I am not so sure anymore. I’ve been waiting for the end of the month, thinking I could pick up a deal. Now I really don’t think I will be buying one. Overpriced for all the headaches…

People post the negatives. The world likes to complain. I love my EV6.

Until you can’t start your car and then you are complaining like everybody else asking for empathy and how to work around the issue.

@Lior
It’s around a half a percent of the EV6s that have an ICCU fail. It’s an important thing to fix but acting like it’s a sure thing it will fail is just wrong

Okay so I thought this too. Every battery is going to fail at some point. Mine failed last week at 35k miles. 2022 wind awd, bought Feb. 2022. It sucked, but then I called our local Autozone to see if they had a 120v battery in stock & they did. My husband picked it up, brought it to me, and we learned how to swap it out via YouTube. It was super easy & less than 20 minutes. I ended up with a better battery $250 after trading in the dead one. I’ve basically had this happen in every ICE vehicle I’ve ever owned & managed the exact same way. It’s really not a catastrophic thing. You can proactively buy a battery jumper thingy or replace the factory one with a better battery. Also, everyone sells the batteries including Costco & Amazon.

@Corey
What they call a recall is just updating the software to fix potential issues. A very small number of people are developing issues and then they announce a recall to make everyone go to a dealership and update their software so it doesn’t happen again. The 12V battery is a teething issue with most EVs, especially ones heavy on electronics. But at this point, it’s not a big deal. It also happens on any car - ICE or EV. Other than that, the car is wonderful. Kia is rated one…
