Can I get a cheap good EV that isn’t a leaf?

I live in Canada, and I am pretty sure that an EV would be the best option for me but I am not quite sure which one to choose.

I also don’t mind buying an older EV as long as it is a good option but not a leaf. I am looking at whatever is the cheapest option to save the most money and found lots of 2020 e-golfs for under 20k, but was wondering what you guys could recommend.

You can opt for the 2017 Chevy Bolt before you start make sure it has DCFC which wasn’t standard that year.

The thing with Bolts that no one has mentioned yet is the battery recall on all 2017-19 and some 2020. This means you can get a 7 yo car with a 7 yo car price, but it has a near-new, fully warrantied battery.

I will have to say that Bolt is the Miata of EVs. It is always the right answer for may guy who is in need of an EV with a lower price.

You can get the first-gen Hyundai Kona is a hoot to drive. With the ridiculous amount of torque it is actually a great little car.

I could just advise you to go for the Ioniq EV (2017-2021) which are good, low-cost EV.

As a low-cost EV option, used Ford Escape PHEVs are fantastic. Some new ones have even been marked down significantly. Although some people disagree, it is fairly close to being an electric vehicle and is a fantastic option for someone who has never lived with one. They have enough EV range to cover most or even all of your everyday driving in some circumstances.

I hope I am not late but the Volkswagen e-Golf might be ideal for you. It offers a range of about 198 km and can be found for under $20,000. Very pocket friendly.
