Any issues with the EV6 using Tesla’s NACS charger, or does it work fine at other stations?

I noticed that the EV6 will get the NACS charging port for 2025, which means it can use Tesla’s network. Does this mean I’ll have problems charging at other stations that don’t use this standard? I’ve heard Tesla doesn’t have a 350kw charger, so could this limit fast charging during long trips? Anyone have more details on this?

Right now, the NACS port might actually be a bit of a downgrade in some cases. For max charge on the eGMP platform, you need a 1000v nominal DCFC, but most Tesla chargers are 400V nominal. This means you’ll charge slower at Tesla stations, with a max of about 100kW using the onboard conversion in the car. If you want to use high-speed Electrify America chargers, you’ll need a CCS to NACS adapter. Over time, Tesla will likely install more 1000V V4 chargers, and Electrify America and others will add NACS cables to their chargers.

@Westley
From what I’ve read, the new EV6 and Ioniq5 with native NACS should be able to get around 135kW on a 500V charger, which is what the Tesla Superchargers are in the USA. It’s still not amazing, but it’s an improvement over the current EV6, which only gets about 96kW. The 2025 Ioniq5 will come with an adapter for CCS, and I’d assume the EV6 will do the same.

@Benaiah
You’re right, that definitely makes the speed better.

@Westley
Yeah, Kia might have made a mistake switching to NACS before Tesla even had high-speed chargers available.

You could just get an older model and use the adapter that’s coming out.

Yeah, let someone else take the depreciation hit.

But… wireless CarPlay would be hard to give up. Plus, there’s the larger battery pack… It’s really tempting.

@Kelsey
You can get an Android box for about a hundred bucks on AliExpress.

I saw one for $50 on Amazon that does what most of these people want.

@Kelsey
The 2025 EV6 GT still has the CCS port, and it’s still on the passenger side. It’s the perfect excuse to get the 641 HP EV6.

@Kelsey
$20,000+ in your pocket or wireless CarPlay? The larger battery pack is fine, but not worth an extra $20k.

Is this available on MY25? I’ve seen it limited to MY23 LE in the USA.

$20k? How do you find savings like that? I’ve never found anything close to it. What model year and trim are you talking about? I’m curious.

@Kelsey
I just bought a 2023 GT-Line AWD. When I saw what this person paid retail, I couldn’t believe it. I paid $35.5k, including dealer markup, but the retail price was $71k.

Got it. I’ve never paid dealer markup, and that wouldn’t change if I bought a Kia. :wink:

@Kelsey
I think the person is talking about the big lease cash available on 2024 models from Kia Finance. For 2-year leases, you can get over $17k in lease cash on some trims, so if you can get a few thousand off MSRP too, you can save $20k. Some people lease to get the cash, then buy it out. You can check the latest lease terms on Edmunds here: 2024 Kia EV6 Lease Deals, Incentives, Rebates, and Prices - Page 37 — Car Forums at Edmunds.com

@Kelsey
Leasing could solve everything too.

@Kelsey
The 2025 models have a lot more changes, like an upgraded suspension and some trims getting a digital rear-view mirror, which is why I’m waiting.
