My TV is rarely operated correctly by SmartThings most of the time. How in the world could I trust Samsung with my bloody car? I need to remotely start, unlock and lock the doors, and adjust the charging configuration. Let Apple CarPlay or Android Auto handle everything else.
Are you serious for sure? The last thing I would want is the “Galaxy” of cars. Samsung has so much bloated software that it makes no sense.
Samsung’s software quality is very bad. It took them decades to make excellent phones but that was with Android. Their operating system, Tizen, is particularly bad.
It is funny how they talk a lot about taking care of their pets yet they can’t get all of their cars to go into fucking dog mode. Let us consider the degree to which press releases can be trusted.
The advantage of the same is just OTA Updates. On the other hand the update will bring a disadvantage of Cloud-based software
I am not sure how I feel about this. It will most likely run on the Gen2 EV9 and Gen3 EV6 hardware architectures, whatever replaces the current components in the EV9.
I am pretty sure that Android Automotive will serve as the foundation for the upcoming system. Rivian, Lucid, Porsche, Audi, Polestar, Volvo, GM, and numerous other companies employ the same core system.
I am not surprised by this news because Samsung is also Korean.
Oh, shucks. I am relieved that I only had a two-year lease. Despite my affection for my EV6, I will never be able to use CarPlay. I am fully utilizing the Apple ecosystem and am well-versed in it. When I utilize internal infotainment systems and any of the Google variations. I feel like I am going backwards horribly from the easy, seamless CarPlay experience.
However, all automakers are attempting to abandon AA and CarPlay to make the infotainment system a subscription service. Since Hyundai and KIA will no longer be an option, hopefully by 2026 we will have more affordable EV options than we do now.
The best electric vehicles available have CarPlay (Lucid Air) and are aware of their clientele. While GM alienated many customers when they disabled it on the Equinox and Blazer, Tesla and Rivian were born without it. It’s funny because I’m currently watching a Hyundai and a Kia, and if their modern cars continue to run well ten years from now, I might consider buying one, but if they break CarPlay, I will most likely pass.
I adore how my home media and personal media are integrated with my CarPlay. A well-designed vehicle might include a head unit with a baller application and screen real estate that lets people operate the entire vehicle from their phone and vice versa. It gets so much worse in the car when GREED controls it all.
I am happy that I ceased using Samsung phones a few years ago in favour of purchasing other devices with less software. Not to mention a few small software bugs and issues with Smart TV functionality.
For me, this is anything but positive news, but we’ll have to wait and see how things work out or whether they even complete the job. “Meh” is more common than “Please don’t mess up”.
It is a good thing other manufacturers are catching up gradually. (I am eagerly anticipating the Smart #5 from Mercedes/Geely.)
Did Hyundai Corp not announce two weeks ago that they were fully investing in Android Autotomize? It appears that none of their previous Samsung products have ever been shipped abroad. For years, all three companies’ infotainment has been powered by Android.
My Samsung S24 Ultra is an excellent device; I wouldn’t describe it as bloated, albeit there are versions of certain apps, such as email, calculators, and other tools. However, it ultimately boils down to your personal choices. Amazing gadget never had any problems with it.
Having said that, I wouldn’t touch a Samsung TV with my life.
