What is the best way to buy a used Taycan

Hey guys,

I want to own a Taycan on a budget, so I want to buy a used Taycan. I ma just wondering what is the best way to go about it.

I started my search on Porsche’s website, looking for a certified pre-owned. That led me to a few dealerships in my area, of course, I live in Los Angeles.

I am also looking at Carvana and CarMax. I am asking for your honest advice if there is a better, optimal way to go about it.

Thank you in advance.

If I were you, I would opt for a lease rather than buying. The resale of these cars is very unpredictable especially with the new-gen getting a much better default battery.

In addition, a CPO warranty is a must because you can’t go anywhere but the dealer for any issues with these cars.

Instead of stressing yourself buying one, you can just lease a 2023 or a 2024. Some have very good deals compared to CPO purchases.

While CPO is a fantastic program, a regular Porsche Protection plan VSC (ext warranty) might be a better option for you.

The CPO maxes out at 3 years / unlimited miles. It is also something noting that the traditional VSCs are able to provide up to 6 years beyond the expiration of factory coverage and out to 100 grand.

I just realized that this is a Taycan subscription and that the maximum coverage on some VINs is +4 years; in that scenario, I would choose CPO.

I will just go for CPO anytime any day

I just don’t want to take a monthly payment for this, but in case it is financially better I guess I can just keep cash on a HYSA and pay from that each month.

Despite increasing inventory, dealers aren’t budgeting after I spent the last month looking for CPO offers. Instead, I chose to lease CPO and discovered a ton of amazing offers. Since this is a year of renewal and new battery technology for EVs in general is coming in a few years, the depreciation on them is too unpredictable.

I recently went through a broker and it’s arguable if he saved me anything, but it was at least cheaper than the dealership listed and I did not have to do the haggling.
