What EV should I buy? Are Chinese ones any good? Thoughts?

I’ve had an MG5 for three years, and it’s been perfect. No issues whatsoever.

How’s it holding up in terms of rust and general wear? I know some manufacturers have had issues with corrosion, especially in areas with harsh winters.

I’m in northern England, and we get a lot of road salt in winter. So far, no signs of rust or corrosion, but I’ll find out more when it goes in for its first MOT soon. Overall, though, it’s been a joy to own.

That’s great to hear! I’m really hoping MG can be a strong, affordable option in the EV market. They’ve come a long way.

If you’re in the US or Canada, avoid any EV with a CHAdeMO connector. They’re slower, and most charging stations are moving towards CCS or Tesla’s NACS.

I own a BYD Atto3 with the extended range, and I’d definitely recommend it. It’s reliable, comes with a safer LFP battery, and includes V2L (Vehicle-to-Load), so you can power appliances during camping or power outages.

The interior is a little quirky but fun, and the rotating screen always gets attention. With a real-world range of around 400km, it’s a great city car. No complaints so far!
