Yesterday, an error message popped up on my car’s display after charging the battery to 80% the night before. The vehicle diagnostics suggested an issue with the battery management system and advised immediate dealership service. Now, the car won’t go over 40 mph.
Good luck with that. I just went through the same ordeal last Friday and had to get my car towed the next day. They provided a loaner, but they mentioned it might take a few weeks, especially with the holiday season.
@Cade
Thanks, I have a backup vehicle, but it’s still frustrating. The tow truck just picked up my car, and the dealer said it’ll be two days before they even start the diagnostics. Let me know how yours turns out!
@Dane
Will do. Ironically, my car was parked and I had just turned on the seat warmer when it happened. Heard a pop, then the alarms and the same error message you had. Glad it happened at home at least.
@Cade
Lucky it was at home for you! I’ve had to replace my 12v battery already, and it’s only been two years since I got the car. Lots of drama for a new car.

That’s rough. I had to replace my 12v recently too, and also had the recall updates done. Seems like it’s just one thing after another with this car.
@Cade
My 12-volt also failed soon after a dealer update. I was told the battery should be fully charged before such updates as the process can drain it.

Same here, just around the two-year mark and over 30k miles when things started acting up.
@Harper
I’m still fond of the car, hoping these issues get resolved soon. And yeah, the roadside assistance app has been pretty responsive, thankfully.

The service is especially good in the San Antonio, TX area. Much better than the one from my insurance.
@Dane
It definitely varies by location. In my case, the driver is usually nearby waiting for calls since that’s how he gets paid.
I feel you, planning to send my rental bill to Hyundai corporate since this ICCU issue just popped up.

Fingers crossed your repairs go smoothly!

They’re currently replacing the ICCU, so hoping that fixes it.
Seeing all these issues had me worried, but finding out Bluelink covers towing eased my nerves a bit.

Taking my car in for service soon too. Seems like these early models have a bunch of kinks.
@Fifer
I’m keeping a portable battery on hand just in case. It helped with my old car, and it might be a lifesaver now.

Good call on the portable battery. When my 12V was failing, a jump start was only good for a couple of starts. It’s best to keep the charger accessible, not buried in the trunk.
@Dane
There’s no easy way to open the trunk if the battery dies? That seems like an oversight.
