I’m torn between getting a Taycan and a Tesla for my next electric car, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on which one might be the better choice. I am keen on:
I agree with the OP in major part the Taycan is an amazing car to drive, with the feel of a small electric go-kart. I own a 2021 Taycan 4S with much too many extras (55k???). The Model S is larger, more practical, and equally swift in a straight line, but it feels more like a giant automobile than a toy.
The Porsche Taycan offers superior handling, luxurious interiors, and sporty performance, while Tesla excels in range, charging infrastructure, and advanced autopilot features. Your choice depends on whether you prioritize driving experience or technological convenience.
As someone who has extensively driven both the Porsche Taycan and Tesla Model 3 Performance, I can share my perspective on which might be the better choice for you. In terms of performance and driving experience, the Taycan has the edge with its superior handling, stability at high speeds, and more premium ride quality thanks to the air suspension. However, the Tesla offers a more instant throttle response and addictive acceleration in its normal mode, which is equivalent to the Taycan’s Sport and Sport+ modes.
For range and charging, the Tesla likely has a slight advantage with an extra 30-50 miles of range, but the Taycan’s range drains more slowly when driven efficiently. Both will be compatible with the new North American Charging Standard (NACS) starting in 2025.
The Taycan’s interior feels more premium with its haptic buttons and air suspension, but the Tesla’s interface is more intuitive and has some useful features like Dog Mode and Sentry Mode. Reliability-wise, both are relatively new models, but the Tesla has a slight edge with its more established track record.
I would recommend the Taycan. It is known for its exceptional handling and driving dynamics, closely resembling the performance and feel of a traditional Porsche sports car. It offers precise steering, a low center of gravity, and excellent road feedback.
