Hey everyone, I recently got a Taycan and noticed that the steering wheel is slightly to the right when I’m driving straight. It’s been bugging me, and I was wondering if anyone here has had a similar issue or if there’s anything I can do about it. I already told my dealer, and they saw the problem too. My car was in the shop last week for some post-sale fixes, but this wasn’t addressed. Should I tell them again or just go ahead and get it fixed myself?
@Brady
I was going to say it’s an optical illusion, but that’s not the case here
I had the same issue, but it turned out the dashboard was slightly angled behind the wheel, which made it look like it was off. After getting an alignment and double-checking, everything was fine. But in your case, the issue looks way more off, so you should definitely get an alignment done ASAP.
@Freeman
Thanks for the tip, seems like I’m way past a small margin of error. How long does an alignment normally take? Will I have to leave my car at the shop for a while?
@Brady
Whoa, that’s way off compared to mine! I wouldn’t be able to live with that either.
Fixing the steering wheel center is actually a simpler job than a full alignment. The factory alignment should have set the wheel center, so this is a bit strange.

The wheels themselves are fine; I can drive with no issues. It’s just the steering wheel that’s off enough to be really annoying. I hope it can be adjusted without much hassle.
@Brady
They can center the steering wheel without needing a full alignment, I’m pretty sure.
Sounds like an alignment issue, that should solve the problem.

Around an hour.
@Rowe
Taycan alignments are not 1 hour if the rear needs adjusting.

I still say around an hour. It could take more time for checks, but typically it’s about an hour.

How many Taycan alignments have you done?
@Lior
How many have you done, and who are you anyway?

I don’t keep track. If rear adjustments are needed, you’ll have to remove the rear underbody panel, diagonal braces, and use a special tool. Calibration of the front camera should also be done.
@Lior
If the rear doesn’t need adjusting, though…
I have the exact same issue with mine haha. I just accepted it, it’s not that big of a deal for me.

Haha, I can’t ignore it I’ll go back to the dealer. It’s just too noticeable, especially with a $180k car!
If it’s new, you need to bring it in ASAP to get it covered under warranty. If it’s pre-owned, you’ll have to pay for the alignment or negotiate with sales.
