Kia is offering a good deal right now, with a $17,400 discount on the 2024 EV6 GT-LINE AWD, bringing it down from $60k to $43k. It’s tempting, but I’m wondering if I should wait for the 2025 model. This would be my first EV. Any thoughts?
I’d say go for the 2024 now. The federal tax credit probably won’t last too long.

I know, that’s why I’m feeling pressured to make a decision.

There’s no exact end date for the tax credit, and we’ll likely get plenty of notice before it ends. I’m personally waiting for the refresh.
@Oak
Really? I keep hearing that Trump already made moves to end the tax credit, and it’s just stuck in bureaucracy now, so it could end any time.

That’s not how it works. He can’t just order it gone. Congress needs to pass a bill for that.
@Oak
I doubt there will be any clear notice. It’s likely going to come via an executive order, and it could lead to years of court battles. Meanwhile, the IRS will be told not to process them, and people will miss out until it’s all settled. Hope that doesn’t happen, but it’s looking more likely recently.
@Leith
If that happens, EV prices might drop a lot, similar to what Hyundai has been doing.

Prices will adjust based on market demand.
I would suggest going for a 2022 or 2023 instead. There’s not much difference between the 2022 and 2024 models, and 2022 ones are really cheap right now.

I prefer a new car. I’m planning to lease, so I like the peace of mind with the warranty.
@Lior
I’ve seen new 2023s going for around $32k.
Wow, that’s exactly what I’m going to do .

I just paid $34k for a 2024. Dealers should give extra discounts. Mine had an additional $3,500 off.
@Peyton
Where did you find a deal for $34k? Was it RWD or AWD?

AWD Wind, no tech package. It’s a lease from Washington State. MSRP was $60k, got $10k Kia cash, $7,500 lease rebate, and about $3,400 dealer cash. The total lease cost was just over $34k.

I’ve been trying for a week in Miami but couldn’t get anywhere close to $34k. The best I got was $1,000 dealer cash on top of Kia/Fed incentives. I’m after a GT Line, so $34k is out of reach, but I’m still trying to get more from the dealer.

Same here, although I’m going for RWD in Metro Atlanta.
Wow, that’s even cheaper than what I paid for my Niro Wave.
That was the list price in Montgomery, Alabama. I got a quote with all the usual fees, and they wanted to sell it for nearly the same as the 2024 model. With shipping and the car sitting in the Alabama sun for 2 years, I wasn’t willing to haggle. But good luck with your search!
