Seeking Feedback on Kia Niro EV Reliability

Hello all,

I’m in the market for a new electric vehicle and have been considering the Kia Niro EV. I’ve read some reviews online, but I would love to hear from actual owners about their experiences with this car. Here are some specific points I’m curious about:

1. Overall Reliability: How has your Kia Niro EV held up over time? Any major issues or consistent minor problems?

2. Battery Life and Range: What kind of range are you getting on a full charge? Have you noticed any significant degradation in battery performance over time?

3. Maintenance Costs: How expensive is it to maintain? Are there any unexpected costs I should be aware of?

4. Driving Experience: How does it handle on different road conditions? Is it comfortable for long drives?

5. Charging: How convenient is it to charge at home and on the go? Have you encountered any issues with charging stations?

Any insights, tips, or personal stories would be greatly appreciated. I’m trying to make an informed decision and your feedback would be incredibly helpful.

Thanks in advance.

I received mine two months ago. There is no hidden catch, but Kia has inserted several inconvenient elements, particularly with the temperature and entertainment controls. The standard model has a lot of bells and whistles, but while I’m not happy with it, it’s reasonable for the price.

Great electric vehicle. It’s fantastic. The only downside for me is the slow level 3 charging. In cold weather, the Niro EV begins to slow the charge at higher temperatures compared to other EVs. Although battery conditioning helps, it’s not fully effective. I have a preference for the Niro EV, but I believe that the new Kona, which I consider Hyundai’s equivalent, has a much better charging curve and is less impacted by cold temperatures.

I live in Canada, and I have a 2023 Premium + with 15k on it. It has been fantastic so far. Overall, it seems like it’s worth the money, neither amazing nor awful. However, it was still pretty pricey for a mid-size front-wheel-drive wagon with an electric powertrain.

Looking for a reliable electric car? The Kia Niro EV ranked high in the 2023 What Car? survey, beating out rivals like the Tesla Model 3 and VW ID.3! (94.6% reliable!) :zap:
