Reframe Government EV Policy

It is necessary to recast the current government policy from one that is environmental to one that is national competitive. The EU and China are moving toward electric vehicles. We must transition to electric vehicles (EVs) in line with our rivals if the US car industry is to be relevant in the future. Without incentives, US automakers would gladly continue to sell large ICE SUVs until consumers began to migrate to electric vehicles made in other countries. By then, all of the industrial base, skills, and knowledge would be located elsewhere. Although some may object to being “forced” to purchase an EV, the US auto industry will not exist in the same form as it does today if we don’t start immediately.

The EU and China both rely on imported energy. Purchasing an electric vehicle has many benefits.

America is the biggest oil producer in the world and also a net exporter of oil. Selling more oil boosts US government and corporate balance sheets immensely.

@Chalamet The EU and China’s transition to electric vehicles will reduce the need for gas and oil. Reduced demand results in reduced prices. Consequently, the US oil reserves lost value.
