Sadly, North America will only be getting the Sportback (and not the Avant) , at least at launch, in A6 RWD, A6 AWD, and S6 AWD versions. No EPA ranges announced yet. Pre-orders start in September globally, no North American pricing yet.
While I am surprised that the US is not getting the Avant, the fact that the A6 is now a Sportback instead of a sedan is still pretty good. Though both cars look somewhat frumpy in their proportions.
The Sportback, in my opinion, in simple terms lacks sufficient glass and too much bodywork to “work” visually. I know it is because of the battery hanging underneath, but the wagon’s high beltline works much better. If they provide an all-road version, even more so.
In any case, an A6 is larger than what I would like to drive, but the Avant has the potential to convince me otherwise. Right now, my only goal is for it to sell well enough so that the US can have an electric A4 or S4 Avant.
Yes, WLTP is the range figure; nonetheless, this is what they have currently announced.
Finally, an affordable Audi sedan or station wagon that is not the outrageously costly E-tron GT.
Although it has an amazing appearance and impressive specs, I couldn’t hesitate for a second but pass on it because it will cost almost £20,000 more than the current combustion A6 Avant.
I understand that compared to slamming in a diesel engine, switching to an electric architecture with a large battery is still fairly expensive, but w whole whooping ÂŁ20,000 feels like they are taking the piss.
They will sell tons of them, I am sure, but at these prices, they have effectively priced out the average A6 purchaser.
As expected, the amount is precisely £20,000. The “Sportback” starts at £69,900, while the Avant costs £71,700.
I actually agree with you because the current A6 base model is a joke. You can easily spec these cars to over 100.000 € without having anything fancy. The new models have packages etc. so I doubt it will be significantly more expensive.
I personally don’t understand up tp date why VW group just cannott sort out the rear seat situation yet.
Such a long wheelbase for pretty middling passenger space is not enough, they need to work on their packaging better.
This is actually far too much money. The current A6 is not even that expensive comparatively. Let us see on the resale, you can get a decent 2-year-old A6 Avant for ÂŁ24k. I now wonder if the EV will depreciate as much.
Audi has not disclosed the EPA driving range numbers for the A6 E-Tron model sold in the United States; however, the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) utilized in Europe stated that the A6 E-Tron has a range of more than 750 kilometers, or 466 miles, while the S6 E-Tron has a range of more than 670 kilometers or 416 miles.
Depending on the version, I think that U.S. vehicles will have a range of 300 to 350 miles because the WLTP standard is less stringent. When the A6 E-Tron goes on sale, Audi will announce its EPA ratings.
I am ashamed to say that after decades of making such handsome cars, they have now come up with an ugly design. The BMW disease must be contagious and sadly it has reached the Audi
This is a pretty amazing car. This invention will open up possibilities for folks who live and/or travel to more remote areas.
