My First Electric Vehicle Experience

I own a Chevy Bolt but now I’m eyeing an EV6. Feel like I’m betraying my Bolt.

My dad has the Bolt EUV, and he’s most envious of the fast charging on my EV6.

I rented a Bolt before my EV6 and was disappointed with its charging speed. When I got my EV6, I met someone renting a Bolt who thought the slow charging was due to the charger. I had to let her know it was just the Bolt’s limit.

I’m looking at either an EV6 or an Ioniq 5 for under $25k.

I prefer the EV6 over the Ioniq. I found an EV6 Wind AWD with 28k miles for $23k. It’s crazy to see Bolts priced higher.

@Mica
I’d be happy with either if I find the right deal.

@Mica
The driving experience is quite different between the Ioniq 5 and EV6. The EV6 has a more enclosed, cockpit-like feel, while the Ioniq 5 is more open. The EV6’s lower trims have less convenient door handles which was a dealbreaker for me.

@Neve
Sounds like the EV6 would suit me better as I prefer less upright seating. What’s the issue with the door handles?

The EV6’s flush door handles are less convenient than the Ioniq’s, which auto-extend on unlocking. It’s a small thing but makes a difference if you’re carrying things.

The Bolt is a decent starter EV. I’ve put 150k miles on mine.

I came from a manual TDI Sportwagen and just got an EV6 GT. I haven’t driven the Sportwagen since I got the GT, but I’m keeping it for long trips.

Still waiting for the 36-month lease returns, but it’s great to hear it brings the same joy as a manual GTI. It will be my first automatic in 30 years.

How much did you pay for it? Insurance for KIA is crazy high in Seattle, I was quoted over $300 for a basic 2024 EV6.

I had to switch insurers because my '22 EV6 was too expensive to insure with my previous company. It went from $250 to $150 a month with GEICO.

@Ariel
That’s what my agent told me too…

Welcome to the club! It’s the best car I’ve owned and always gets compliments. There are only 115 like it in the US. Enjoy!

I’d love to have one in yellow too!

That’s a great color. I have an Ioniq 6 in blue byte, which is similarly striking. I’ve looked at the EV6 for my next car, but the color options are mostly dull. I wish they had more vibrant options.

Gotta catch them all, gotta catch them all, EV6!

I also have a GTI mk7.5. Good to know the GT-line is just as fun, although I’d prefer the GT trim.
