Loving my new car so far... Is it really this good?

After what happened with my first one, I decided to get another, and the range difference isn’t that bad. I am still getting around 330 miles per charge with AWD, which is pretty awesome.

What??? You posted your license plate? People on this forum say you and your descendants will be cursed forever, lol. Not sure why, though. Honestly, I’m loving this car too. Enjoy it!

I don’t really get why people blur them out. I’ve never heard of any public database that lets you look up plates… EDIT: Actually, there’s a US law that stops this info from being shared: the Driver’s Privacy Protection Act.

@Zane
Doesn’t that law also make it illegal to take photos of plates?

Nope, it doesn’t. It just prevents using plates for illegal stuff or impersonating someone to get that protected info. It only applies to motor vehicle departments and their contractors, not regular people taking pictures. In fact, this law was passed way back in 1994 before everyone had phone cameras.

@Zane
This law only affects DMVs. Plates can reveal the VIN, which might let you look up things like tax records. But it depends on the county.

I’m not sure how a VIN could give you tax info. Usually, you’d need a social security number or other details for that.

@Zane
Some counties only need the VIN, though. It’s like looking up property tax records by just an address.

Can you show me an example of a county that does that? It seems like a violation of the law to me if a DMV provides info like that.

@Zane
Sure. Some counties in SC, like Greenville, let you search by VIN. Others, like Lexington, let you search by name. Some counties like Richland are stricter and require more info, like your name and address. It varies from place to place.

@Reagan
Thanks for the info! This is interesting to know.

It’s a rental.

In Europe, license plates are seen as personal info, so GDPR rules apply. You can post your own plate, but for others, you need a good reason (like the owner’s consent).

Just hit 14,300 miles in my 2023 GT… I’m still in love with this car!

I got mine two weeks ago, and it’s perfect! The only thing I’m thinking about is upgrading the sound system to the Sony ES. The base sound is decent, but the Meridian ‘premium upgrade’ didn’t impress me.

I had one as a rental this week. First time driving an EV, and I really enjoyed it! It’s a nice car.
