LOL… anyone else think this is just too funny?

I saw something that made me laugh today… what do you guys think?

I bet this dude locked himself into a $950 per month, 72-month lease on that truck.

He probably blames the President for his gas bill while driving around getting 4 mpg.

@Orion
The real kicker is that fewer gas users would mean lower gas prices… if only it worked that way.

You’d think so, but oil companies cut production to keep profits high. More EVs can actually lower electric bills for non-EV users, since high usage is charged at a higher rate to offset the lower use customers who aren’t that profitable for utilities. So, in a weird way, EV users help lower electric costs for others.

@Orion
True. Gotta love those corporations and their sneaky ways to keep profits up :joy:.

And don’t forget about entire countries like Saudi Arabia, which manipulate oil prices globally.

Yeah, that’s basically what’s happening. Instead of maintaining refineries, they shut them down and then point fingers at Democrats or environmentalists for the closures. Meanwhile, shareholders are cashing in on dividends and stock buybacks. These corporate heads know the fossil fuel era is coming to an end, so they’re bailing out with golden parachutes before demand collapses. In the end, they’ll likely leave the cleanup costs to the government.

@Orion
Oil companies will always make sure they maintain revenue and profit by raising prices to make up for lost sales.

Exactly, they don’t price based on supply and demand—it’s all about what we’re willing to pay, and then they adjust production accordingly.

@Orion
Wait…am I supposed to be getting a discount on my electric bill? Hold on, let me check…

Nope. At least not from my provider. I’m paying $0.22/kWh. Much better than gas, but no discount for having an EV.

@Harlem
You misunderstood. EV users are subsidizing the rates for those who stay under 1000 kWh a month, not the other way around.

Imagine caring this much about someone else’s choice of car.

Pretty much on brand for some folks. They care about:

  • What bathroom you use
  • Your pronouns
  • If you use contraception or not, and what you do with your own body
  • And let’s not forget, which religion you follow

So stressing about what car I drive is probably the least of their worries.

@Orion
Probably has a “Let’s Go Brandon” flag on the truck, too.

@Orion
I switched to electric, and it wasn’t for any political reason. I just save more money—about 50 cents per 100 km instead of $3-$4.

@Orion
I drive electric, but I still find a way to blame Biden. :laughing:

Classic sunk cost fallacy.

Stop talking about your EV payment plan.

So, are we in some competition here?

When you’re a fool, this is the type of thing you care about.
