Is Range Rover Taking a Big Risk With Electric Cars... Will It Work Out?

Range Rover’s shift to electric vehicles raises questions about their strategy and reliability.

Not having an EV option seems risky

Especially for Range Rover, they could gain a lot of trust from customers

They might find a way to mess up the battery situation somehow

@Keagan
I saw a new one on the side of the road, the whole rear axle was gone

At least the ‘Chelsea Tractor’ will be eco-friendly for the school runs, no more waiting outside schools for ages

It’s the same in the US too

Euro7 standards are tough for diesels and tricky for petrol engines. The way forward in cities seems to be electric cars. Plus, with the demand in China, this move makes sense.

Does this include heavy vehicles?

Luxury cars work well as EVs. Their weight is not a problem, and the quietness and torque are big advantages. Range Rovers cater to urban areas, farms, and tourists. They don’t really need to be off-roaders since they aren’t used that way most of the time.

Maybe 40 years ago. Today’s Range Rovers are just expensive vehicles for shopping.

Range Rover needs to figure out how to make their vehicles more reliable. If they don’t, they might face the same fate as VW, blaming electric issues for their past problems.

Sounds like they might use a quad motor setup? But there’s no word on the range or pricing yet.

The range seems disappointing. The price will probably be very high. I’d bet on it.

@Vernon
That might be what I need to do to afford one

@Vernon
It’ll probably cost as much as a small house.

So, just like the gas one then

Maybe we should wait for Jaecoo. At least we can rely on Chery for a good and affordable off-roader.

With how unreliable RRs are, an electric version might actually be a better deal.
