How can I set up Apple CarPlay with my iPhone 16?

I’m having trouble setting up CarPlay. It keeps asking for a USB cable, but I only have a USB-C cable, which doesn’t seem to work with CarPlay. Any suggestions on how to get it working?

You need a USB to USB-C cord to plug into the USB input. It’s a bit annoying, but it works. A lot of people buy a wireless adapter for the EV6.

Like HRF said, just use the other port. I got the Motorola adapter. It’s a bit pricey at £60, but it’s totally worth it.

Is the USB-A port on the right? It seems like European cars often have the USB-A on the left side. You’ll want to use that one, not the USB-C port. Or, you can buy a USB-A wireless CarPlay adapter here: Amazon.com: Wireless CarPlay Adapter for Apple, Plug and Play Low Latency Mini Wilreless Carplay Adapter for iPhone Converts Wired to Wireless CarPlay Dongle for Cars from 2016 and iOS 10+ USB Type-A : Electronics

I’ve noticed the ports are flipped for RHD cars.

I don’t get why they didn’t make the USB-C port have data as well. It’s kind of annoying. Just make sure to use the USB-A port, and it should work fine.

It’s 2024, why not just go wireless? That’s one of my only complaints about the EV6.

Your car seems to be right-hand drive, based on the power button location. That means the USB-A port under the dash to the right is the one that works with CarPlay. New iPhones come with a USB-C to USB-C cable, but that port is just for charging, not CarPlay. You need to use the USB-A port for CarPlay. You can either buy an adapter (USB-C female to USB-A male) or get a cable that has both ends different.
