Frustrated with Hyundai Ioniq 5 Issues

I have had nothing but issues with my Ioniq 5. From a new wheel bearing, charge port, high voltage battery issues that led to over 90 days in the shop, to now a 12-volt problem. I am done with Hyundai. Their customer service is unhelpful, providing no information or empathy. Although I cannot use the lemon law, I wish I could return this car. It may sound harsh, but my frustrations grew when car troubles made me miss my daughter’s basketball game.

Over 90 days for repairs could qualify for lemon law. Really sorry to hear you’re having such a tough time.

I’ve looked into it. Unfortunately, I’ve owned the car for two years, which complicates things.

@Keaton
What state are you in? In some states, you might still qualify for lemon law relief if your car was in the shop for over 30 days.

Based on previous posts, it seems like you’re in the Carolinas. They have a one-month qualification period for the lemon law.

@Macon
Maybe consider moving to a state with more favorable lemon laws just to return the car?

@Keaton
I see, that’s really unfortunate. Hope things look up for you soon!

That’s really unfortunate. I’ve had two Ioniq 5s without any issues, but that doesn’t diminish the problems you’re facing. Completely understandable why you’d avoid Hyundai in the future.

Echoing this sentiment. I’ve had a good experience with my Ioniq 5 too, but I hope you can resolve this through lemon law or some other means.

Thanks for the sympathy.

Sorry to hear about your ordeal. Hoping that with these issues resolved, you might have smoother sailing ahead.

I’ve been waiting 10 weeks for an ICCU repair with no end in sight, and I’ve unexpectedly become fond of the electric BMW they gave me as a loaner.

It’s frustrating not having a clear timeline. I’m considering switching brands after this experience, possibly to something like Rivian, or even exploring some of the innovative EVs I saw recently in China.

It’s been tough, especially with the poor communication from Hyundai. They made a small goodwill gesture after my prolonged shop stay, but even that process was mishandled.

I just completed my 5k service, which included an ICCU software update and tire rotation, taking almost two hours. So far, my lease experience has been positive, aside from some issues with public chargers.

@Tatum
I’ve had similar updates done, but my recent recall is for a different issue. It seems to be just another temporary fix.

@Tatum
It appears there’s no real solution to the ICCU problems without better quality control or a complete redesign.

@Tatum
I wonder if they caused the 12V issue while updating your ICCU. Seems like another mishap on their part.

In Washington, the lemon law covers 30 months, provided the issues started within the first 24 months.

Seems like it’s time to cut your losses and move on from Hyundai.
