Just got into a lease for my first electric vehicle here in Southern CA! Managed a 36-month term with zero down, taxes and fees included, at $454 a month. I’ve only had it for a day and a half, but I’m already loving it! I even ordered a bezel cover to match the screen bezel with the interior’s black theme. Any tips for a newbie Ioniq owner?
You can adjust the display settings to a dark mode that fits your new bezel cover. This setting can automatically activate and deactivate based on the time you choose, making it ideal for night driving. Everything remains visible, just on a black background. I set mine from 7pm to 7am.
I didn’t get any rebate for a 240V charger installation, so I stick with the regular wall outlet. I set Hyundai’s charger to 15 amps and plug in whenever the car’s parked. It adds about 20% overnight, which works well with my weekly driving. I found that a 240V setup wasn’t worth the cost just yet for me.
You’re going to enjoy the drive — it handles curves smoothly and accelerates quickly. The build quality is solid, no squeaks or rattles, and the top-down parking view is incredibly handy, especially in tight spots. The blind spot cameras are a lifesaver in busy traffic.

I wish I could say the same. My '24 SEL has a few squeaks and rattles.

That’s unfortunate. I’m hoping I don’t encounter the same issues with my Limited.
If your daily drives are short, the 120V charger should be enough. However, upgrading to a 16 amp charger can significantly boost your charging speed, giving you over 20% in 12 hours.

Just to clarify, it’s 12 amp, not watt, and it delivers about 1.4kW. If you can, upgrading to 16 amps is better.
@Yule
Thanks for the correction. I upgraded to a 16 amp charger for better efficiency and it’s made a noticeable difference.

Could you share a link to the 16 amp charger you bought? Just leased a 2024 Limited myself and I’m new to all this.

Thanks a lot!
Consider getting a proper home charger. The basic 120V charger is quite slow. Installing at least a 30 amp, 240V outlet could be a good start, though a 60 amp setup would be ideal for future proofing.

Absolutely planning to install one in my new house. Any specific models or installation services you’d recommend? Also interested in any rebates to offset the costs.
@Chance
Which charger does your energy provider offer rebates for? That might influence your choice.

I find overnight charging with Hyundai’s charger quite adequate for my needs, even though it’s slower. Just make sure it’s set to the highest amp setting for best efficiency.
Love that color! Congrats on your new EV!
Did you include lease protection? I got a similar deal in SoCal but paid more monthly after a down payment. Seems like you got a great deal.

Thanks! I added lease wear protection which bumped my monthly cost to around $482. I’m still deciding if I’ll keep it, but it seemed sensible given the lease term.
