It seems like the Koreans have developed a solid fast charging platform. I’m curious, though, what issues have owners encountered? Have there been any problems with OTA updates bricking your car? Is manually conditioning the battery a hassle? Thanks for sharing your experiences!
I really like this car, but there’s a quirky thing about preconditioning. If your destination is beyond your current range, the nav suggests a charger. However, it often directs you to a less optimal charger, which can be frustrating. Has anyone figured out a workaround?
@Sawyer
You can adjust the nav’s SoC settings to avoid this issue.

I prefer using a better route planner and combining it with Google maps for more accuracy. Waze is my go-to for real-time adjustments.

Just to clarify, only the onboard navigation can trigger preconditioning. Third-party apps can’t do this.
One thing that bugs me is that the car doesn’t lock automatically when I walk away, something even my older car did.

I’m looking at getting a Mazda CX-90, and it seems the walk away lock feature is overly sensitive there. It locks too soon, which can be annoying.
@Sam
I own a CX-90, and yes, the sensitive lock is quite bothersome.

It’s baffling why it doesn’t have this basic feature.

There’s an aftermarket kit for this if it’s a big issue. It’s strange Kia didn’t include this as a standard feature.

It also takes a while to unlock when you approach.
@Lyle
The Wind models don’t even have this feature.

Some higher trims might have this feature.

Which trim includes this? I have the GT-line RWD US Spec.

Does IoniqGuy’s walk away lock device work for this? Here’s a link to his product: EV6 – Ioniq Guy Productions
@Noel
I shouldn’t have to pay extra for a feature that should be standard, especially since I’m leasing.
I haven’t had any OTA issues. My main complaints are low-quality interior plastics, an unbalanced tire from the factory, and a noisy cabin vent. Also, why do we have to manually condition the battery?

I think they omit this feature to encourage subscription to Kia Connect.

Have you checked the vehicle settings? There are several options for locking.
