Nah. Not that DC; Washington, DC. I picked up the 2023 Limited on October 2nd. At 3:20 AM, three kids in a stolen vehicle crashed into my neighbour’s SUV, which launched into my I5. Insurance is taking care of everything, but I am so annoyed with ATM. I’m crossing my fingers it doesn’t get totalled.
That’s rough, hope you get it sorted soon. Been in that position myself, and it’s frustrating.
Sorry to hear that, it really does SUCK when you’re doing everything right, and then some random person wrecks your car. You’d think insurance would make it easy, but in some places it’s a real struggle. I was rear-ended, and it took two months to get the paperwork straight. Hope it’s quicker for you!
@Marsden
Wow, I never thought about how insurance works differently in other countries. In the US, we can get pretty mad at any delay since we’re already paying so much for insurance. In this case, I’d hoped to get this resolved with the driver’s insurance, but since the car was reportedly stolen, the owner’s not liable, and the kids who did it are gone. With DC’s approach to juvenile cases, I’m not hopeful they’ll be held accountable… Looks like my rates might go up if my insurance has to pay out.
Had something similar happen to us here in DC too, except with a drunk driver. This was before we had our Ioniq 5, and I’m crossing my fingers it doesn’t happen again furiously knocking on wood Sorry it happened to you, and I really hope the insurance covers it. Fingers crossed it’s just a liftgate and bumper replacement and nothing more serious.
@Han
Yeah, I’ve got plenty of stories after this incident! It even pushed me to attend my first ANC meeting.

The Association of New Canadians?

Haha, no, it’s the Advisory Neighborhood Commission, which represents our area in DC council matters.
@Drew
Ah, got it! Makes way more sense. Sorry about what happened, and hope you get everything settled quickly.
@Drew
Why not just say that from the start?
Because I thought the person I was replying to would know, not the whole forum. Anything else you’d like to ask?
The exact happened to me too a couple of months ago, had the car for a month.
After $7,000 in repairs for new trims, they still forgot to reconnect the rear defrost. Now I have to take it back the first week of November to get that fixed too. Frustration level: maximum
@Hayden
Ouch! And being white, no shortage of lights on the back either. Did they make sure to align the panels properly?

Mine’s actually Cyber Gray Took a month for parts and three weeks to fix. Panels look aligned, but now my rear defrost is out
Just curious which DC you thought we were talking about when you said, ‘DC Sucks.’ Lol

Haha, yeah, I can just see someone here thinking it’s about Direct Current charging speeds.
@Drew
Oh wow, didn’t even cross my mind, lol! My bad!
Sometimes I wonder if it’d be better if it got totaled! When mine got hit by a stolen car last year, repairs took almost three months. Might’ve been better if it had just been written off.

Honestly, I can’t deal with the mental or financial strain of another new car this year.
That’s why I never park on the street. I use Spot Hero and find a covered garage spot every time.
