Curious About the MotorTrend Yearlong Experience with Ioniq 6. What Should We Explore?

Are the windows thicker in the Ioniq 6 compared to the 5? It seems quieter, possibly due to better insulation.

The streamlined design of the Ioniq 6 might contribute to its quieter ride compared to the Ioniq 5, though I haven’t tested them side by side.

I’ll be comparing noise levels using a decibel app to determine if there’s a significant difference. I’m also interested in whether the tires include acoustic foam, which could affect sound insulation.

@Fifer
How does tire wear on the Ioniq 6 compare to other EVs or general vehicle standards?

Has anyone else noticed that the turning radius is not as tight as it could be? It’s particularly challenging in urban environments.

Absolutely, it feels cumbersome, especially in tight parking spaces or when making sharp turns.

@Winter
Making U-turns is often a multi-step process to avoid hitting curbs, despite the car’s quick acceleration.

@Winter
It’s disappointing compared to my previous Sonata hybrid, which required fewer maneuvers for simple turns.

@Winter
The wheelbase is longer than expected, impacting maneuverability in tight spaces.

It was one of the first things I noticed. It doesn’t handle tight turns as well as other cars, although it’s not as bad as a truck.

@Dex
While the turn radius is less ideal, the longer wheelbase contributes to a more comfortable ride, which is a significant advantage for me.

I haven’t experienced issues with the turning radius myself.

Coming from a Fiat, the difference was expected but still takes some getting used to.
