Can't believe I went 200 miles on a full battery

In my day-to-day drives, I have been getting around 200 miles on a full battery and 2.5mi/khw.

I mostly drive on motorways which I understand reduces range but not that much. Is this normal?

I at most times do a 160-mile commute and drive almost entirely on highways. I averaged 3.4 miles/kwh over the past two years, but in perfect weather, it can be closer to 4.0.

FWIW, I have found there is a huge difference in efficiency between driving 65/70 mph and driving 75 mph.

Driving around 70 miles on the highway, I do get around 3.2. 2.5 or below depending if it is during winter or a really hot day.

I have AWD. If yours is a RWD, you should check your battery. You might not have a 77.4kw battery. Standard trim has a smaller battery.

200 miles in your conditions with the settings you use is probably normal. If you want to increase the efficiency you should consider driving in Eco Mode since it will only use the rear motor when cruising. Also, use the radar cruise control, and slow your speed to closer to 65mph in case you are comfortable doing so.

If you ain’t comfortable using the Radar Cruise Control, then you can opt for Auto Regen instead of I-Pedal. People who have run tests have found that Auto Regen gives the most efficient results.

You will possibly find a big drop in range after you exceed 65mph. In my case, I can easily do 220 miles with 80% battery use by keeping myself around 65mph or below. That is the trick I have been using and it has helped me a lot.

Maybe I can assist you do simple mathematics; 2.5 mi/kwh x 75kwh should give you around 187 miles. Therefore, I can easily conclude that 200 sounds right.

The range is easily cut in half by the insane speed differential between 70 and 80 mph.

The amount of energy required to overcome wind resistance rises with the square of the speed.

This becomes noticeable above 65mph as losses to wind resistance start to become larger than the amount of energy required to accelerate to that speed.

Plus a significant amount of the range in an EV is the regenerative braking which you are not doing much at 70 mph.

A quick question here: What is your average speed and is your car RWD or AWD?

If it is AWD, are you driving with ipedal on?

It is actually a RWD and I always do around 70mph. In addition, I am always on auto regen driving mostly in normal mode.

In my tiny knowledge about cars, I think using Ipedal won’t make a lick of difference on the motorway, especially if using cruise.

Where did you learn about cars? The fact will remain that Ipedal does make a difference for an AWD but it goes into RWD mode if using cruise/HDA. Know this from today so that you won’t shame yourself anywhere in the near future.

I use auto regen on normal but on the freeway, but I normally just turn on HDA2 and let the car do the driving.

The only time I have gotten miles per kilowatt hour that low, I was heading into the mountains. It could have been brought by the wind elevation, climate control in the car, or even tire pressure.
