Can Ioniq 5 use Tesla Superchargers ... What are other charging options?

This may sound silly, but is there an adapter that allows the 2024 Ioniq 5 to use Tesla Superchargers? If not, where else can I charge my Ioniq 5? The ChargePoint at my office isn’t enough, and the nearest Electrify America station is about 3 miles away. Any good alternatives?

You won’t be able to use Tesla’s Supercharger network with your Hyundai until possibly the first quarter of 2025. The charging speed will be limited to just under 100 KW. There are two types of adapters you might need. One for L1 and L2 chargers adapts from nacs/j3400 connector to j1772, with A2Z or TeslaTap being reliable brands. For DC fast charging at Tesla stations, you’ll need an adapter from nacs/j3400 to CCS1, available from Tesla, A2Z, and Lectron. Charging regularly at Electrify America since it’s free might be your best bet, and use the ChargePoint at work when necessary, although it’s costly. Check if ChargePoint offers a subscription for a better rate.

This is a great response!

@Zia
Thanks, this really helps!

@Zia
Haven’t heard about any discount plans for ChargePoint. Their costs vary as they are often independently operated.

You have a free DC fast charger and L2 at work just three miles away? I had to drive 35 miles to the nearest one for a long time. If the charging at work is free and not too crowded, stick with that for your daily needs. For longer trips, the Electrify America station will do just fine.

@Nico
Haha, I wasn’t complaining about the 3 miles—just wondering if there are other options I should consider before making that my primary charging spot.

Work isn’t free, but I get there so early that I never have to fight for a spot. It’s not the fastest, though.

@Lior
Charging at work is meant to be slow since you’re parked there for hours.

Exactly, just plug it in at the start of your workday and it will be ready when you leave.

What are the electricity rates like at your home? That could affect your decision.

In California, 33 cents per kWh is actually quite reasonable.

In Southern California, I pay about 26 cents per kWh at off-peak hours.

Wow, I pay 10 cents per kWh in Canada!

@Vesper
That’s incredibly cheap!

Will do, thanks!

Great car, but a beauty like that deserves a stunning backdrop.

@Lin
I did a cross-country trip with bikes on my GV60. High speeds really drained the battery fast!

Hyundai will start having access to Tesla superchargers in early 2025. Not all locations will be compatible due to different supercharger versions. About the ChargePoint, why do you find it insufficient? What’s your daily commute like? What charge rate does the ChargePoint offer?

@Corey
Also, keep in mind the current Tesla superchargers might limit speeds to 100kw for your car. The 350kw chargers at Electrify America are free for now and offer higher speeds.
