With Utility Mode, you won’t have the car auto-shut off after a certain time limit. Plus, there’s no risk of accidentally shifting to Drive.
It also lowers battery load by turning off drive functions and safety systems that aren’t needed when parked.

Didn’t know about the time limit, thanks! And yeah, with this gear knob, it’d take some effort to accidentally shift into Drive. Plus, I’m on pedal anyway, so I really have to try to mess it up .

If you’re looking for peace of mind, use Utility Mode. Check out page 1-14 in the manual for instructions, and page 1-15 for how to turn it on.
I think Utility Mode shuts down some things like the AC to save power, so it’s mainly for situations where you just want to use the car’s power without needing everything running.
