Why do people still use regular car washes when touchless options are available?
They’re actually quite rare in some areas.

I worked at a place that claimed to be ‘touchless’ because it was less abrasive than others, not because it didn’t touch the car at all.

True, touchless washes are not available everywhere.

My old BMW goes through machine washes all the time without any issues. Just once lost a rear wiper, but they gave it back to me.
@Alix
I used to take my Range Rover through car washes regularly and never had any problems.

Even found out I needed to reseal a vapor barrier thanks to the car wash. Not too bothered about the paint at this point.
If you have comprehensive insurance, this kind of damage should be covered.

I’ll have to check my policy. I think I have comprehensive coverage.

Leased vehicles typically require comprehensive coverage. Consider looking for reputable hand wash services going forward.
@Reese
That seems like the safest option. Thanks for the suggestion.
I had a car wash cover damages they caused to my car before. They should have insurance for this.
From now on, I’m only hand washing or going to professional detailers.
Always opt for a brushless wash if you must use an automated service. They use high-pressure water and chemicals but no physical brushes, reducing the risk of damage.

I’ll consider that next time. Thanks for the tip!
Was the damage caused by the car wash, or did it reveal an existing issue with your car?

It’s hard to tell, but it definitely happened during the wash.
My car also got damaged at a wash, but the car wash handled the repairs without involving insurance. Wait to hear from the manager.

I appreciate that, thank you! They said they’d get back to me next week.
I stopped using car washes decades ago because they often post signs saying they’re not responsible for damages. I prefer washing my car myself.
That looks painful!
