Brake hold problem

Today I learned that pushing hard on the brakes at a stop light activates a ‘hold’ mode, so you don’t have to keep your foot on the brake pedal. It’s a revelation!

This is one of my favorite features! With adaptive cruise control, you can simply hit resume on the control arm and start moving without touching the gas. I can drive most of my commute without touching the gas or brake.

@Shan
Nice. I’ll have to try that!

It’s not just in EVs, my ICE cars like the Cayman, 911, and Macan also have this feature.

I’ve known this since I started driving!

I use this feature every day and absolutely love it.

I find the implementation a bit lacking. You need to apply a lot of pressure to activate it.

Interesting, it shouldn’t require much pressure. Maybe there’s something off with your system?

@Lexus2
I thought it was more about a double press, not pressure?

No, it’s just a bit more pressure, not a double press.

I actually think it works great as it is!

Maybe it’s just me then. My other car has a button that holds the brake automatically, which I prefer.

@Sam
It might be worth checking for a software update for your brake system if it feels too hard to activate.

I prefer having to activate it manually. Gives me more control.

You might want to get that checked. It should only require a quick tap.

Mine also requires a lot of pressure to activate.

@Rex
That’s not normal. You might want to get the brake system checked, especially if there’s a recall.

I haven’t been called in for that recall yet.

I’d recommend calling your dealer to schedule it. They might be slow to reach out.

@Devon
Were there other serious recalls done at the same time?
