Yeah, adjustable length would definitely help with that!

Do you keep the seat all the way down? I feel like anything other than the max setting feels awkward.

I have it set a bit higher and tilted back to support my legs better. It took a while to find a comfortable setup.

I’m torn between the iX and Q8 as well. A couple of questions:
- Can you dim the screen brightness?
- How tall are you? Just wondering since fit is important.
I’m about 5’9”, and I usually keep the seat extended back. As for the Q8, try looking over your left shoulder when sitting in the driver’s seat—it’s impossible to see the traffic behind you.
And regarding the climate screen, I’ve heard it can be turned off, but the salesperson told me it couldn’t. Definitely check it out for yourself!
I’ve owned my iX for a while now, and it’s the best SUV I’ve ever driven. My only complaint is that the windshield wipers smear. It’s happened on both my 2022 and 2024 models.

I haven’t had that problem, but my windshield pits pretty easily. Have you noticed that?
@Sage
What do you mean by pitting? Small marks or something else? I’ve had no issues with the glass itself, just the wipers.

I’m not seeing much of a comparison to the Q8, which I personally ruled out almost immediately. I found the iX and even the Kia EV9 more appealing. The iX is a completely different size from the Q8, though, so keep that in mind.
I moved from a Q8 to an X5 50e, and the difference is night and day. I didn’t have visibility problems with the Q8, but the X5 and iX were much better. The tech in BMWs also feels way ahead of Audi.
I bought an iX M60 about a year and a half ago. It’s been great, but it was expensive, and I’m sure it’s lost some value already. The only real downside has been some issues with BMW service centers. My car had a drivetrain malfunction error that took over a month to fix, and the communication was frustrating considering the price I paid. Other than that, the iX is the best car I’ve owned, hands down.
After a year of driving the iX, I’ve found a few minor annoyances:
- The headrest is uncomfortable when reclining, especially when waiting to charge the car. We solved this by using pillows.
- The boot board doesn’t have a proper storage spot when you remove it to flatten the storage area.
- The camera washers leave the bumpers dirty, so I avoid using them unless it’s raining.
Despite these minor issues, I love my iX and have no regrets. I also skipped the Q8 and EQS for the iX.
I used to own a 2019 Q7 Prestige and couldn’t wait to get rid of it. Even though it had decent visibility, I much prefer the iX. I also rented a 2024 Q7 after leasing my iX for about six months, and I still hated it. The iX is easily one of the best EVs out there, and even though it has a few flaws, it’s hard to beat. My only gripe is that the seats could offer a bit more support, but using the screen settings to adjust the seat helps a lot.
@Bailey
I sat in the Q7, and the visibility was fine, but the Q8 was completely different. The reduced view made it hard to enjoy a scenic drive compared to the iX.
I don’t think there’s any car that can match the iX’s interior.
One more question—how do you feel about the iX’s panoramic roof that doesn’t open? It has a button to switch between clear and translucent, which is cool, but am I going to miss having a sunroof that opens?
Great breakdown. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I had a Q8 and test-drove an iX. I’ll probably be getting the iX soon. By the way, you can turn off the Q8’s climate control screen by pressing a button on the top right. My main issues with the Q8 were the lack of internal storage and poor throttle response. You need to drive it in sport mode to improve the response, but I still wasn’t satisfied.
