Bad ICCU AFTER SC327

Nothing to add other than I wish the color you have had been an option when I bought mine. I would have gone with that green without hesitation.

And the camel interior is beautiful. I wish they offered the GT with more than black interior. It’s the one thing I hate about my GT.

Wonder if the tech didn’t put a charger on the 12V battery during the update.

That is a distinct possibility. I did check the state of charge of the 12V with CarScanner before I dropped it off and it was 86%. I think the update took 30-45 minutes, so even without a tender on the battery it shouldn’t have been a problem. I just don’t know how the ICCU gets corrupted by doing the update? Beforehand I had no indication that there was a problem as the car functioned flawlessly. But as they say, there are only 2 kinds of electronics out there- Ones that have failed, and ones that are going to fail.

If I hadn’t gotten such a smokin deal on my yacht blue GT this is the car I was going to buy.

Interesting trivia for those who like the green color:

To my knowledge the green Limited Edition EV6 is the only EV6 that was available in the US with the tan interior.

The tan interior looks very good in these cars, I wish I could buy a crashed one super cheap and put it in my yacht blue GT.

@Bao
You and me both. We both ended up with Yacht Blue GTs and yet I would trade the speed of my GT for this dark green/tan interior combo.

Oh I wouldn’t trade the speed. I’d like to find a super cheap crashed green/tan car so I could harvest the interior to put in my GT.

@Bao
I’m curious since they’re going to add power seats to the ‘25 model if they’ll end up offering additional interior color schemes.

Somehow I doubt it.

I would also be looking for wrecked ‘25 GT in the wrecking yards trying to scoop up the power seats. Should be trivial to install into my ‘23. Will know more when I get a chance to look at a ‘25 in person.

Software updates are never going to fix what is a hardware issue.

The software issue was never done to fix a hardware issue. The weird thing to me is that the code indicating the ICCU needed to be replaced was not thrown BEFORE the SW update was done, and evidently was not present after the update. However, a few miles down the road the bad ICCU reared its ugly head.

@Bailey
Interesting. I haven’t had the SC327 update done yet but I will be on the lookout for this once done. Thank you for sharing and I hope they get you squared away. Btw, I’m jelly of the green…that color is what first got me interested in the EV6 but my dealer wouldn’t let me have it with the lease deal that I negotiated.

@EvanSparks
I had been sniffing around the EV6 since the Super Bowl commercial in 2022? Accidentally saw this color at a local dealer a year and a half ago and finally pulled the trigger this past January with an out of state dealer. Even with this setback, I am glad I did.

This coming from the perspective of a software engineer: I heard the last update only changed the way that some data was logged/problems detected. Do we know what this one does? I’m wondering if it changes how a failing ICCU is detected and after you drove it for a few miles it saw what it needed to.

@OliviaBrown
That would be a good question to have an answer to.

So here’s a question… are replacement ICCUs still requiring software updates or what’s the deal with that? I got an ICCU replacement and now my level 2 charging is throttled again.

Charge throttling is almost never the ICCU and is usually related to the port itself getting too hot.

@Ozzie
Charging port was already replaced and it was charging fine. They replaced the ICCU and now it’s throttled 1 day after getting it back, but I agree, this was happening previously due to my charging port overheating with my 48A charging setup.

@Clarke
Use a Bluetooth OBD2 reader and Car Scanner app to check the [VCMS] AC Inlet Temp when you see it throttle. It’s pretty unlikely to be the ICCU, even considering the timing. I have read reports of people who have gone through 3 replacement charging ports.
