I’ve had moments where I press the door, hear the mechanism, but it doesn’t open. It’s inconsistent, so I haven’t taken it in yet.
In my experience, it only works if the car’s unlocked. Once it is, it works every time as long as I press firmly on the door.
You have to unlock the car first.
It’s a firm press, not a touch-sensitive feature. Look inside to see where the latch hits the button inside.
Yep, mine hasn’t opened that way even once since I got it.
It never works for me either. Clearly, I’m missing something!
Look at the inside of the charging port door. There’s a small nub that pushes the button next to the port. You need to press right there, and the car must be unlocked.
This drives me crazy. I know all the advice here is right, but it’s just annoying that it doesn’t open instantly no matter how long it’s been off.
I just force it open. Not ideal, but it hasn’t broken on me yet, and I’ve done it countless times.

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted—I do this too sometimes, especially since I’ve got the GT-Line RWD model.
@Cary
Probably because it’s not recommended. It’s motorized and shouldn’t be forced. If it breaks, I’ll just replace it and not do it again… or maybe I will.

Ultimate solution! I added an eye hook and a rope with a prybar to open it every time. No more issues!
@Zyler
You can just use your fingers, you know… ??

Haha, I was kidding! The prybar and rope bit was just for laughs.
