I don’t know if I am the only one, but Doug annoys me for some reason

I always feel uncomfortable watching his content.

I don’t know what is the reason.

We are together in this.

I used to like his content before but later fed up with his content because of his random nonsense emphasis on words and syllables.

In addition, he overreacts to stupid things in cars. I am surprised that he has maintained fans to date.

I like the guy’s content because he describes everything like a new Kindergarten teacher.

When he gets to the driving session, he turns it off and he sounds like a normal guy. It is the only part that I love to watch.

Sure sure.
He is a little on top of the game but he is also one of the rare reviewers who pays for everything (except the cars) on his dime. He is not always doing some promo junkets all the time and when he does he pays for his way. This allows him to give uncensored feedback. If for no other reason, I respect that enough to watch his videos.

Just to add something, Doug has millions of followers and is the biggest car YouTuber according to my opinion. He gives us amazing insights. In his opinion, the OEM needs him more than the other way around. He has been incredibly candid about stuff he does not like on OEM cars.

The rare thing about him is that most new car launches have insane wine and dine bits to them like exotic locations, fancy dinners, and fun non-car related experiences.

Doug’s thing is that he won’t do any of the wine and dine. He will just fly himself out, drive the car and leave.

He is a bit dramatic but his reviews are very superficial and don’t add real value to make sound buying decisions.

I am sure that most car buyers couldn’t even tell you how many cylinders their engine has. Doug’s review is more than enough for those people. His reviews are probably enough than whatever information most people take into consideration when buying an ICE vehicle.

I do agree that his reviews are woefully insufficient when it comes to buying an EV though but at least he is making his mark in the car review industry.

In my honest opinion, he is not an EV enthusiast at all so he majorly spends too much time ever on the range, battery, and charging. This is fine because so many others do, but he should point out those things and the cars’ negatives more oftenly.

What makes him unique is that he is thorough in his reviews and clearly describes features and functions both good and bad. No supercruise but great screen. If able to, I would consider a Tesla Y if it wasn’t for Musk’s white supremacist leaning. Like that, the Y is assembled in the USA and employs a lot of Americans.

I just feel that they are too late to the party, especially because they are still not shipping Supercruise and other features even after being late.

They have nothing that makes them stand out in the category. The lack of Carplay also kinda kills the deal for many.

What I like about these cars is their Google Buit-In approach. There is an Android Automotive OS coming or something. This is an interesting step to go beyond Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

In any EV, the infotainment has to be deeply integrated into the car. This is something Tesla and Rivian knew all along.

GM on the other hand has decided to go with Google to do the car OS for them. This is an important move because car OS is something you need to be updating and improving for the next 10 years. After all, majorly that is what Tesla does. It is not enough to just throw something into the car and forget it.
